Cyrus and Mission systems.

Featured Replies

Hello.
I’ve enjoyed many nice systems over the years, owning products from Musical Fidelity, Mission, Bewitch, Theta, Audiolab, Mordaunt Short, Martin Logan, Nakamichi (Whise), Cyrus, Akai, and probably a few others.

Currently, I’m really enjoying a couple of systems in my home. Both are using Cyrus electronics and Mission speakers. Sure, it’s not as esoteric as I’ve had previously but it sounds great and is reliable and easy to use.

The main system is a modified Mac Mini into a DAC XP+ preamp, Mono X monoblocks and completely rebuilt Mission e83 speakers. It also has a modified Apple TV for movies which feeds into an AV Master 8 home theatre preamp and a couple more power amps. I also have a nice dual 10” sealed subwoofer. All digital cabling is Wireworld and all analogue cabling is Nordost.

I have a sitting room upstairs which has a much simpler system in it. Still Cyrus and Mission but I have also modified and rebuilt those speakers as well, also with Mundorf and Nordost.

First, I added Mission 750LE stand mount speakers (also rebuilt - I can’t help myself), then 782 floor standing speakers.

I recently decided to consolidate my audio gear. I sold one Cyrus system and my main system Mission Elegante speakers.

For about 24 hours I got to enjoy my recently rebuilt Mission 782 speakers on my main system with monoblocks and they sounded incredible and not only for such a small speaker.

But then, I moved them and replaced them with these

Ive owned the Martin Logan Aerius i previously and wanted some ESL goodness again. This time I went with the Ethos. They’re working very well with the Mono X monoblocks.

I also added a Rega RP40 with a number of Tangospinner bits and Michell and XTC modifications. It also now runs an Ania Pro MC cartridge through a Dynavector P75 mk4 phono stage.
