Testing Dark Mode

As promised, I am currently testing our Dark Mode theme. It is progressing nicely and I hope to roll it out this week.

I must admit I don't know why I didn't introduce this a long time ago. I'm already preferring it. There will be a toggle button in the top right corner to switch between Light and Dark modes.

Is there a lighter shade of black to choose from? The reason I'm asking is some of the links (underlined hyperlinks) may be hard to see if the background is too dark...just a suggestion.

Still a work in progress - definitely tweaking more before release. So you want a lighter shade of dark? Hehe ?

Yes pl. Something that's easy in the eyes but "not too dark" (sound like a marketing meme for Google Pixel phone) till it makes the eyes squint the moment we leave the site/app.

Dark mode benefited in 2 ways that light mode doesn't...first is the ease of navigating and reading the content with less strain on your eyes under normal light condition and second and most important of all, it helps to conserve battery life for mobile device users.

@Marc while you are doing your experiments, would you also test out various shades of grey as a background for the text portions of the forum please? this is similar to what they are doing over at head-fi forum and that's easy on the eyes too I think. just my 2 cents

I'll check out HeadFi. Thanks for the suggestion.

The dark version looks good. Prefer it over the white now. Less glaring over the phone

I don't see any option or light bulb for dark mode ..... where is it?

Still in development. I haven't activated it yet.

I still prefer white, but can I ask for a whiter shade of pale so I can skip the light fandango and turn cartwheels on the floor? hehe j/k.  ?

Yeah that's why there will be a choice. I know you can't always please everybody, but if we can get 90% of the way ... we're on to a good thing!

i jus checked out the IPS Themes in the IPSFocus website that your using, Marc.

if u scroll down the website in IPSTheme, there are quite a few options to choose from there.

i like the "Villian Theme"

i have attached the website link at the bottom of my post so other members can see n maybe a poll to choose a theme can be set up?

Very familiar with IPSFocus yes thanks @CASH1624705743 ?

Our dark theme is already based on Villian, just like this light theme is based on another IPSFocus theme.

Dark Mode is now available.
