Test222 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Hi all, I recently bought a Creative X7 amplifier with Creative XM7 bookshelf speakers for my TV/2ch hifi use. I am looking for a subwoofer to complement the current setup since my father wanted stronger bass when he plays his instruments along with the music. Some questions in my mind are: 1. The X7 can be connected to a sub via line-in but I am unsure of its low frequency ability so is it possible that it might not be able to drive a powerful sub? 2. The setup is placed in my living room but the listening area is a small one around 3m by 3m. Possible that a small sub is sufficient? 3. Usage is 70% music and 30% for movies/TV shows. I do not require thumping bass or loud volume since I live in a HDB flat and will not want to disturb my neighbours. Moderate volume is sufficient. I am open to both used and new subs. Budget will be 1.5k for new and 1k for used.
wizardofoz Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 You will probably want a sealed sub...seeing as your weighting is more towards music. 10-12" should be adequate but musicality will be more important than size why would you have a different budget for new or used... get the best you can find for the money you have regardless
Test222 Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Thanks! Will the JL e110 be better than the SVS SB-2000?
Jag Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Consider the rythmik f12 subwoofer too. It's a solid performer for music, especially with its distortion busting servo feedback to minimize distortion for audiophile and HT.

I went to Adelphi(#1-20) and was told that they are bringing in only the 15 inchers.
