Idlewise4ever Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Guys, am eyeing on Franck muller and saw the conquistador GP at watch of Switzerland at paragon. I checked Internet it's supposed to be leather belt but the selling pieces are in rubber strap. Anyone have an idea?
bad_ass09 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Hi guys... If you just wanna buy a watch just so you wanna enjoy and keep it forever go for any brand you like... But if you think you wanna sell and make back some money in the future ROLEX and PATEK PHILLIPPE is the brands to buy... You guys won't regret... Cheers... ;D
landis1 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Yes these brands do hold their value more or less ;D
qrm Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Yes these brands do hold their value more or less ;D Not only keep their value but in some cases they have double if not tripled in value. Like all things in life you should just buy to enjoy the item rather than see it as an investment route.
deaf.eye Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Anyone planning to visit the Royal Oak exhibition at KTM Railway station?
Idlewise4ever Posted October 7, 2012 Author Posted October 7, 2012 Got chopard, jlc and Rolex for the past 2 years, all appreciated Liao. The lux brand almost every yr up their price by bits, from 3-10%. Now am contented with what I have for the moment :) But lusting for Franck miller :p
redryder Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm 38, but have never bought a 'proper' watch before. I still use the same automatic Citizen watch given to me by my dad 20 years ago, and my other watch is a Guess watch which was a free gift from Singtel also about 15 yrs ago. Maybe it's time for me to buy a new watch.
landis1 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 i think a proper watch is one which tells you the correct time ;D
deaf.eye Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 i think a proper watch is one which tells you the correct time ;D
landis1 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 i think a proper watch is one which tells you the correct time ;D an improper one tells the correct time also but costs 10,000 times more
qrm Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 i think a proper watch is one which tells you the correct time ;D Ah but what is the definition of the correct time? Its a huge global brainwash/confidence trick invented by the Swiss. Most people have smart phones these days if you want the time you just use that. I see thing going the really daft way left hand drives cars become a symbol of success in Japan. It will be fashionable to wear watches that tell the wrong time as it will show the great unwashed you can really afford a hand made very expensive watch.

Idlewise4ever Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 K la everything has its extreme classes. Hifi also mah.
landis1 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 But lusting for Franck miller :p i was told that a preowned piece sets you back s$10k
Idlewise4ever Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 The piece u shown retail at 16k - 20k depending on titanium or other materials, Then with 30% off its abt 14k max for new. Was at paragon watches of Switzerland just now. Now in love with Curvex gold, after discount 24k hmm.. Aiya enough lust la. Market bad, keep money first.
qrm Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 These guys must be taking the piss.. I took my other half frank muller watch in to sincere to change the battery and they quoted me $1500! they said the battery has leaked, now here is the funny bit last time i took the watch in they said the exact same thing the battery has leaked so needs a major overhaul! what sort of crappy batteries are they using I have cheap and cheerful technomarine and seiko the batteries have never leaked!
Eric Teh Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Get a second opinion. Sometimes all that is needed is a bit of cleaning of the contacts. Battery leakage is a euphemism for, I put in a battery and it doesn't work, so I assume the movement is spoilt !
Guest francishuang Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 They are just not as gd in battery compare to the japs. Normal battery change n servicing for patek ladies watch is 1k plus at service center too Watch is exp...maintenance lagi expensive
jerms Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 ripoff brands all taking the piss on batt changes.
qrm Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Buy automatic I have to admit I assumed all frank mullers were all automatic, so was a bit stunned when they said the battery was dead during the last service, anyway managed to get the cost of changing the battery down to $950 and it will take 6-10 weeks. They did write back saying the battery change alone would cost $54 but because it leaked and trashed the internals, it has to be sent back to be totally renewed. I told them i didn't want it polished but they said the polishing was free. Does sound like a complete scam.
ysl Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Do watches retail for less in HK and London? Looking at a Junghans Max Bill. No where near the prices of luxury watches but if I can, I would like to see if I can save some $. Will be in HK, Jarkata, and London in the next few months. Jarkata, I have my doubts, but been told watches in HK genrally go for about 10% less. Junghans watches are made in Germany, would London be a good place to buy ? Thanks !
YANG Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Buying from HK is more competitively priced in SG due to tax-less pricing. But... Should u be buying Junghans, you should find out if the warranty covers internationally, or just limited in HK. So far i know Watches of Switzerland carries Junghans in local market, but I don't know which group owns the distributionship of this marque in SG. Hence... It's best to find out more, even though the movements used can be common...
