the quality itself.

my regular durian place is at bukit purmei blk 112, where cat mount king is sold at $12/kg (it was $6/kg two yrs back)

 

the owner is called Ah Seng, quite a nice chap.  if you tell him it's Alex intro wan, you'll be treated with free drinks and free-flow of mangosteen, and sometime sampling of various durian breeds  ;)

DURIANS...... had the best durians last week.... very small seeds, fleshy and BITTER.... those bitter durians are the BEST.... been a durian freak since young days and with 4 sessions of DURIANS... brekkie, lunch, dinner and supper!!!  Crazy huh but that's the beauty of enjoying good and the best durians.  Yummmmmm

ON! But not this batch. The better ones should be available end Apr/early May. Mountain King Cat is at $18/kg currently. Supply dwindled.

Durians in low stocks right now... my contact in Hougang had to send me to Serangoon to get another contact for this Sunday... prices are more than buying a BR disc!

Yes, that place is very good. I used to live within 20m of that place.

 

I think the prices are a little ex, though the fruit is normally of very good quality so more reassuring.

Found some pretty good cat mountain durians, rich in texture, creamy.

 

Hi guys. I intend to go get some good cat mountain king durian tomorrow. Any recommendation where i shld go?

This morning had a rude shock when a neighbourhood durian seller told me cat mountain king relegated to 3rd position in the last durian competition. Coming in first place is 'Ji Dan Wang' (egg yolk) and then the small seed 'lin feng jiao'. I immediately bought the egg yolk durian. Just finished it all and now posting.

 

I don't think it deserve as champion. Texture is soft, bitter with sweet aromatic aftertaste. Seed rather big and shell a tad thick (not favourable for weighing). Bought at 12/kg. Whereas my usual Cat Mountain King is still preferred for its small seeds, more defined and consistent taste. I don't get CMK for more than 10/kg, else it is a rip off.

 

My other favorites are D2 (really difficult to find good ones due to quality inconsistency) but managed to have a good one with Bro Giraffe 3 days ago. Another good one that only comes in small harvests is the 'Kun Bao' which is a failed champion breed. Will get it whenever it comes.

 

Did you observe more and more CMK selling and in packets?

Supply seems to outstrip supply now. I hope it does not become a situation like D24 - where every planter blatantly plant it, and quality hence suffers thereafter.
