For those who cannot see a difference between the left and middle panels, you can jack up your monitor's brightness level gradually. It's pretty obvious on my calibrated monitor.

Some minor issues I have noticed in my PDP-428 in the last few days...

While watching Channel 5, the subtitles displayed (during the News at 10) the second line of text is cut fully or in half).

I am connected through Starhub Digital set-top box (not HD) and and I Zoom to full screen.

I also noticed that while watching CNA or BBC, the scroling text some times jumps ( judders or jidders?) only at times. Is it normal?

Any thoughts on the above?

I use 'full' picture size (not 'wide' nor 'zoom' ), also use drive mode 2 (in menu -> option).

No such issues for me so far.

I use starhub hd box (set to 576i).

Hi Guys, can bros here do me a favour. Can you test out your panels using direct signal from the tv/fm outlet and see whether the picture quality is smooth and sharp? Only applies to SH enabled guys thanks. :)

As for the CNA or BBC, the scroling text some times jumps ( judders or jidders) issues. I had similar issues and managed to resolve these after reading AVforums site. You may wanna try change the setting Pro Adjust => PureCinema => Film Mode => off

I'm using "Full" picture size & Drive mode 2 too. :)

after waiting for several weeks, my new pioneer 42" plasma and the HT system :)

very please with the TV but unfortunately, the HT is region-coded and i can't play code 1 DVDs :(

i called the installer and he said it can't be unlocked by keying in a sequence of numbers. i need a universal controller to do it. does anyone have any experience with Pioneer DVD players or HT systems?

Hi all, have read through this thread from page 1 and am convinced of the merits of Pioneer plasmas. I went window-shopping for the 428XG at Best Denki, Harvey Norman but the list prices are around $3000 and that's their "Special Price" (according to their tags anyway). Do I have to bargain to get anywhere close to the prices fellow brothers are paying?

The tags are always quoted high. Just ask them what's the actual selling price. If he quote you high, tell him you are aware outside price is $1999 or $1899.

One sales man at Taka Best told me the selling price of 428XG is $1999.

I preferred sequence is the middle panels > Left > Right.

To my hopelessly myopic eyes, it is clear the one on the right is not the same class as the other two. Between left and centre, not so obvious, especially since the centre one is a bit further away. It would appear the left is marginally better, but again, I can't be certain.

I'd guess (assuming I'm correct and the left looks better), the left is the 500A, the centre is an LX5080, and the right is a Panny PY850. Which is what they had at the ISS show, along with a Sony Bravia LCD that was soooo grey it really wasn't the same league at all.

Anyone been to the show at Expo? I'm wondering if they have any good deals for the 500A.

Anyone using pioneer DVD player (ie DV410) connected to pioneer kuro 428XG?

Is it possible to control DVD player basic function from plasma display remote control?

I'm thinking to replace my philips DVD player if pioneer one can be controlled using one remote

You are better off getting the 9 series panels now as they are giving away the LX51 blu ray player which you can resell! the 8 IIRC is going for around 4.5-5 at harvey norman.
