abyors
The LX508G's current price seems quite exorbitant considering that the notable difference, when compared with the 508XG is just FHD and higher contrast (4000 more). Nevertheless, this set seems more desirable to me due to its form factor (it's slightly more rectangular, that's what I think anyway). I wonder whether the price will come down anytime soon. With the upcoming 509 series, will they ever bring down the price at that time. Is there anywhere else in the world that I can get a similar set with the same price I heard they were offering in Australia (AUD$2000++ wasn't it?). My 32" Samsung is getting smaller by the day. Just hoping...
redryder
Guys, I would like to get a Kuro plasma for my bedroom, but quite concerned about the burn-in period. For example, if I travel overseas the TV will be used by my children without my control. I would also like to use it for general web surfing and maybe PC gaming. It would be almost impossible to keep track of the hours for break-in period since the TV will be used by the whole family. Should I just get a LCD TV instead? petetherock
Bro Burn in has been talked about forever. The lastest panels are more resistant, but NO ONE will guarantee it won't happen. I have left my set on pause for hours and it was fine, your call. Most who own Pioneers have been quite happy with their purchase. HD ready or Full HD. And so for those who want full HD and don't want to pay, get a Panasonic for less, no one needs to get a Pioneer...
redryder
Bro Burn in has been talked about forever. The lastest panels are more resistant, but NO ONE will guarantee it won't happen. And so for those who want full HD and don't want to pay, get a Panasonic for less, no one needs to get a Pioneer... I know, I know, Pioneer and Panasonic claim that burn-in is no longer a serious issue, but both manufacturers still say that you need to be extra careful for the first 100 hours? After that initial period, then you are safe. Quote from Panasonic website: When your plasma TV is initially installed, the first 100 hours of use is known as the "break-in period." During this time, to minimize any risk of image retention, you should: 1. Make sure the plasma TV is in a viewing mode (aspect ratio) that completely fills the screen. The panel is shipped in this condition, in what is called the "Just" mode. 2. Turn down the Picture setting (in the Picture menu) to +0. 3. Briefly engage the 4:3 mode and confirm the side bars are set to "Mid", or "Bright". This can be adjusted in the Set Up menu. 4. Always return the display mode that fills the screen (such as Just, Zoom, Full, or H-FILL). 5. Try not to view channels with stationary backgrounds or logos for extended periods of time. 6. Avoid extended display of static images (video games, computer images, DVD title screens, etc.). I was just wondering if that initial "fragile" period is really so serious, because it is really too much work to keep track of that first 100 hours. My option was to get 42PV80 which is quoted S$1799. Now in dilema, which one to go for.... Wondering if pioneer going to release new generation panels soon. Should i wait for that? When it is going to be release? will there be a 42 inch TV? Will it be cheaper? :) ;D Too many questions.. I know... but need u r help Kindly advice. ::)
c7221624705751
pio will release new panel soon, but the new 9th gen are 50" and above. 428 is the last Pio 42" panel. if u really are budget concerned, go for the panny and negotiate hard. the pio is a better panel albeit the pricing is not competitive. Guest dragonsballz
Hi all! I was at courts and viewed the the Pioneer LX508G and Panasonic 50PY700H and saw the contrast between both of them. Overall the pioneer display was top notch....very smooth and fine picture but it is a bit dark compared to the Panasonic. I know the Kuro means black but it seems like the Pionner's display seems to be too dark to my liking. Perhaps the store guys did not calibrate the display properly or it just the way it is for the Pioneer. It was the same between the Pioneer 428XG and the Panasonic 42" plasma equivalent...the Kuro's black seems a bit too dark for me. But of course, the store was in the general displaly section and it was very bright and do not know whether this is significant in viewing the picture display. Neways, will be looking around at other places that have both the Pioneer and Panasonic to see and compare again. Any advise on these?

astroboiz
Latest update: 428XG @ BD Vivo $2480 + Safety 5 + Pioneer DVD DV-410K + HDMI Cable (2m) + DBS Card 1month installment free + some BD free gift. The safety 5 cost almost $200 actually. After that I found the the BD warranty has diminishing coverage, -20% every years! Kind of feeling cheated. Thanks bro for the suggestiom but i think im going Full HD way and it is either Pioneer or Panasonic 50". I am more inclined to get the Pioneer as reviews everywhere and at this forum suggested the Pioneer display is better. Eventhough you are paying more, you are paying for the value of the item for what it is worth....in this case better pic quality. But just need to read up more to get answers for my previous post.
