Bern Posted November 27, 2003 Posted November 27, 2003 Hi Guy's, I'm planning to setup a stereo system for listening to classical and jazz with a $5k budget and would like to have you guy's advice the brand and model to go for. The system is going to set up in a 20m x 10m room. I need all this as below 1. Bookshelf Speakers. (for hang up to wall or ceiling) 2. Pre amp. 3. Stereo Pow amp. 4. CDP. 5. Interconnect. (2x 0.5m or 1m) 6. Speakers cable (20m) 7. Subwoofer (if enought $$) Thanks, Bern

action_man Posted November 27, 2003 Posted November 27, 2003 :o Hoi Try going down to Audio Jas ! Their speakers and amps (China made) might be able to suit your budget. Their in house cables are Supra from Sweden (if not wrong) Their CDP are from Marantz , try listening to the SA17 . Good Luck ;D Cheers ;D

TurkeyMEAT Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Fully agreed ;) Had listen to the china made ones @ Audio Jas Verdict AS GOOD AS U.K ones BY the way, Majority of products nowsaday are MADE IN CHINA HAPPY CHEERS :o
Guest acro Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Bern, u can try Zeppelin and X Audio as well, they got lots of good china stuffs too
Bern Posted November 28, 2003 Author Posted November 28, 2003 Hi Acro and Turkey Meat, Is not that china made audio system sound not good but is how long it can last. So far I didn't hear any of the china made system yet. Yes, Jap, US or even UK system might be made in china but their parts are from their origin country, if I'm not wrong. China only help to assembly up the system that all, right? I'll give it a go if china made system are good. rgds bern
Yubaba Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Try Korsun V8I and you never look down on China products
BTW1624705745 Posted November 29, 2003 Posted November 29, 2003 The system is going to set up in a 20m x 10m room. Hi Bern, Don't mean to be a spoil sport but the 20m x 10m room dimension will result in standing waves problem. Rooms that have 2 identical dimension or multiples of one dimension will have this problem. Bass will be a problem. Probably need some room treatment to kill the standing waves. Don't get too ambitious on the Bass like going for subwoofer or something like that. Good luck!
Mackie1624705753 Posted November 29, 2003 Posted November 29, 2003 IMHO and with prolonged experience and usage of Dynaudio Acoustics, I can't recommend BM6A/P more and especially in S'pore cos' of their great value for money factor. However, it's a large room to fill and the question is whether U're utilising the whole room for the setup. If so, I'm afraid these speakers may not be suitable as they are pro near-field monitors. Distance of 3m between listening spot to speakers is fine though. BM6P can be gotten for < S$1600 nett. U can audition it at my place if interested. NB: BM6A - active (separate amplifiers for tweeters and woofers); BM6P - passive. Check out the link for your interest. http://www.dynaudioacoustics.com/Default.asp?Id=275 A friend of mine is selling a Mordaunt Short MS-206 (UK made) floorstander in very mint condition and at a low price of S$500 nett. Send me an email if interested and I will enclose a picture of them.

Now is just don't know which brand and model to go for. I don't have any space for floorstander that why need to look for bookshelf for hang up. Thanks
