Icemam Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi all, Need some advice on the following setup. In short, I want to have the power amp hooked up to the AVR via preouts that enables me to use the setup for both HT and music. - AVR drives the centre, RB, LB, two ceiling speakers and a sub - Power amp will be connected to the AVR via the preout to drive the FL and FR Questions as follows - how exactly do I go about setting up the FR and FL that enables me to go between HT and stereo modes. - the sub will be connected to the AVR hence in stereo mode, the amp can't be used unless I have to get a power amp with sub output. - correct me if I'm wrong but in the proposed arrangement, the AVR technically is a preamp for the power amp .... Or do I need a standalone preamp for the power amp.? - I intend to connect the DAC to the AVR ... Would this be right ??? Thanks all
steffanth Posted April 22 Posted April 22 hook up the power amp to the pre-outs from the AVR and the AVR will do the rest. you just select stereo for music. simple as that. Using a DAC is probably wasted time and money as it will still need to go through the DAC in the AVR, unless it has a ht bypass. not all do. 1
