I'd like to give the community and moderators of SNA a big shout out. I've been loitering here for some years now. I've used the classifieds to buy some amazing gear. Gear I wouldn't have been able to afford at retail. I've used the classifieds to move on some great equipment to people who either know a bargain when they see one, or couldn't have afforded the gear at the price I initially paid - but still appreciate quality. I love to see stuff used and used again rather than filling up space in storage or worse still, landfill.
I've also gained invaluable advice. FREE advice from people who are kind enough to sit down in a Sunday afternoon, bash the keyboard and grace me with the benefit of their knowledge.
I've also met people through this forum who share my passion/madness for this hobby. Very different people from very different backgrounds with very different priorities and abilities to fund their hobby. I've recently been able to borrow equipment, swap out amps, speakers, cables, room treatments, you name it, all for the love of it, just to see what it sounds like. Thank you to those people
I used to think that to be an audiophile, there was a minimum spend. I used to think that to be taken seriously on a forum such as this one you needed a certain grade of equipment. Bollux. To be an audiophile you need an ear, a love of music and it's reproduction.
To be a great member of this wonderful community you just need to be willing to give a little of your knowledge and experience with the kit that you've got (or had). If you happen to speak electricity and know how electrons move, then to me you're an even more special member. I struggle with anything more complex than V=IR.
Thanks SNA. You're 9,000,000 times better than Facebook!

Hey @captain.j

Great post mate.

I've been a member here for almost four years...  it's my only social media platform.

I would also like to thank the forum, moderators and membership.

I've met wonderful people, heard some high end systems, and made new friends along the way...  friends I now have to grow old with, and share our passion for music and equipment.

As a low income earner, I don't have aspirations for high end gear, but I do love seeing and hearing it.

I've never once been shunned or ridiculed here on SNA...  either for my low end gear, or musical preferences, which include extreme metal, or my lack of knowledge and experience.

I'm reaching a point where I now feel confident to contribute to more threads, only because of what I've learned in my time here.

Ive also picked up most of my gear from the SNA classifieds, including free equipment.

It's a great resource, with knowledgeable, friendly and very generous membership.

Regards.

Ant.

Thanks for your kind words. I was going to suggest you grab your favourite record and pop on over for a beer/listen, but Apple tells me you 7hs and 2min away! If you leave now and don't muck around you'll be here by 2am.

Well said, @captain.j

This is certainly a wonderful community of welcoming, knowledgeable and generous people.

I wish I had discovered SNA many years before I did.  My audio knowledge and equipment has certainly increased since joining.  I find it very satisfying to see people grow in their audio and musical journey, and I feel proud and privileged to be a part of it.
