I got the ceiling diffusers from the SNA classified 👍

I don’t think the angled ends actually matter much on those “skyline” type diffusers, but I wasn’t going to flatten them to find out :D

All the ceiling stuff isn’t final yet, it’s what I arrived at so far and what gives a good result for height illusion (LEDR test) and taming reverb.

  • I have a bit of an update. The Arqen diffuser panels moved to the front wall:     On the side, where they used to be, I have a different kind of diffuser now:

  • No varnish yet, but they’re hanging, ready for a first listen

  • With a proper workshop (table saw, work bench, router table) this would be a cinch, and done in no time. Alas, I only had a track saw and a plunge router (from world renowned tool brands Ozito and Wor

Awesome job on the diffusers! I'm looking to build some for the rear of my media room used primary for home theater.

This idea has been rolling around my head for almost three years, and after a lot of planning, procrastinating and planning again, I finally got off my butt and started building Leanfractal (A1-Frac) diffuser panels, designed by Tim Perry of arqen.com. I’m now done with the hard part (cutting of 64 strips of MDF and 12 pieces of ply, and routing of the fractal strips) and have only sanding and final assembly left to do. Here is a mock assembly (no glue yet) of one of the panels:

The panels are 400x1200mm, I’m making six of them. They will go on the side walls at the first reflection points, three on each side.

Would you recommend using wood over the mdf? This design and the cuts remind me of a project I built decades ago in school using poster foam board. I wonder how poster foam board painted to seal it up would perform as an ultra inexpensive option in less critical listening rooms, like an office as well.

I don't think it matters much, as long as it is rigid and has a hard, smooth surface. Cost and weight are going to be the determining factors for choosing the material, I guess.
