Richieroo Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Hi All, After suggestions for some speakers for a vintage Pioneer I expect I need a good set of Hi response speakers of 95db/@1k @ 8 ohms here's some specs of the amp: Power output: 12 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo) Frequency response: 20Hz to 70kHz Total harmonic distortion: 1% Input sensitivity: 3mV (MM), 130mV (line) Signal to noise ratio: 75dB (MM), 85dB (line) Speaker load impedance: 4Ω to 16Ω I didn't spend a fortune on the amp, so don't want to go too crazy on the speakers for this, just want to make sure I get what I can out of those 12 watts (want it to sound good) Cheers
wen Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 i bought this Sansui 331 reciever, 12 wpc, to go with my Sansui SP2500 speakers, 98db/w/m efficient, a great match, using this in my study. Vintage, Sansui, Kenwood,Pioneer speakers would work well, have seen some for sale in the vintage section on facebook 1 1
Richieroo Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 FYI: I went with some bookshelf Klipsch's They are a great match, sound way better than I anticipated Very happy 1

Graywulf Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Depends what sound signature you are after? The 1960's Wharfedale, Kef, Goodmans, Tannoy bookshelf or 2 way/full range speaker floorstanders would do nicely. Many of these old speakers only needed 10 watts max input. Coral, Pioneer did some nice full range drivers. Small Sonab's, Klipsch there's a huge range of older speakers as well as modern. Modern speakers? There are some good units coming out of China too.
