So i scored a Marantz PM8000. Excellent condition, I'm currently running a pair of Richter wizards MK1, it sounds quite brash, I also tried the speakers on a rotel A11 and it was worse.

What speakers would you lads run with this amp? budget is around 2000. And I cant find to much information on this amp, It is a Class A amp with 95watts per channel.

It’s a hybrid amp - 25 watts in Class A mode.

Its good enough to drive most speakers, as to which speakers you should run with it, that’s a very personal preference.

If it's possible, lug your amp to a few of the hi-fi stores in Sydney and have a listen to a few speakers in your budget with the amp. Quite a few stores in Sydney for you to choose from - and some may even allow a home audition.

Yeah I did listen to these. Was pretty found but I fell in love with the B&W 602s. Thought they would match perfectly. But went a bit over budget

Don't know whats going on there mate. 602's are about 12 years old or more. Are the Richters on their stands and what front end are you using. They were a very competent  speaker for the money way back then, bias'ed towards Rock and blues though. But I have heard the Three Tenors on them and they were quite ok.

Also, whats the tonal characterization of the room?

I would want a lot more power than that for 602s.  They really are quite dull until you shove some serious wattage up their backsides.

Man not the 602s. I mean the 603s. I'm pretty happy with them and find the amp is more then capable.

Yeah those richters are on there stands. They sound pumping.

Not sure about the tonal characteristics of the room. I haven't got into that as of yet.
