Guest Muon N' Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 All have a basis in obsession Nice track!
Guest Sime Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 @Noum that slot car racing is mental. I loved the work stations the guys had in that video.
Guest Muon N' Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 @Sime Was a big track in Annerley (Brisbane), years ago, I would stand outside looking through the window in awe at the speeds they did without flying off...most of the time
Ancientflatulence Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 They've got better bloody eyesight then me ...........
JSmith Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 @Noum seems I'm not the only one half drunk. ... I should watch the volume level this time of night I suppose. JSmith
Kaynin Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Seriously, those slot car drivers would look right at home at the Melbourne hifi show!
Keith_W Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I have no idea about those hobbies. Yet I can somehow relate to them! I can also guess that their wives probably eye roll a lot and many of them are divorced? 1

Expand Yeah, watching that thing tear around the skies and with no landing gear, I was wondering how he would make it back down. Testament to the skill of the pilot. That's the coolest thing i've seen today!

Testament to the skill of the pilot. That's the coolest thing i've seen today! Expand I once watched a very skillful pilot land a full size one with no nose landing gear. It was one of our old Mirages, and was executed so well you would have thought that it was just another day at the office. Once the mains were on the ground, he gently dropped the pitot tube, on the tip of the nose cone, onto the runway and backed off the power and applied brakes. The only damage to the aircraft was a partially ground away nosecone, including the Radar. Watching that model, I was impressed by the time of flight it had. Edited October 19, 2017 by bob_m_54
Guest Sime Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 The problem with super high speed model aircraft is that you lose line of sight to quickly, can’t use all that top speed effectively.

Full Range Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 @Sime re first post Slot car racing video When I was younger I built my own racing slot cars and competed in inter club championships In those days some specialty arcade parlours were fitted out with championship slot car tracks along with pool tables, duke boxes, pinball machines and arcade games Size wise comparison- anywhere between half to full size tenpin bowling ally Had a blast And yes they were fast - Very fast 1
Kaynin Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I understand the shape of the cars in the vid is designed for speed, but I do prefer the replica cars, F1 and what not... Likely because that's what I had as a kid, a Scalextric figure 8. 1
