Good job all involved in getting this sorted and that's not a bad price to get out of a crappy situation. Now you need to watch a shed load of movies to make up for the lost time! :)

Great news - enjoy! :)

Awesome outcome mate! Btw, did you swap the board out yourself or get someone else to do it?

Elvis has left the building.......... I hope. Great news for you Lamtran shows that one bad egg doesn't spoil the omelette.

And here's to karma catching up with the bugger who tried to rip you off

Excellent news . Enjoy buddy!

Great News Mate . I am proud of our community here at DTV. You guys are champs. Cheers to all

Yep a great community here.

After doing the whole Audessey Cal. I fired up Man of Steel and was absolutely blown away at the difference the Calibration made. I can't wait to watch some of the scenes again at -10db rather than -20db :)

Up next will be Avengers, Prometheus, Oblivion :)

Now to start looking for a 1080p projector and a 130" scope screen (currently have 720p and 100" scope screen)

Good outcome :)

Nice one Lamtran, good to hear it kinda worked out in the end, even if it was painful.

Hi,

Reading these posts with interest.

I am suffering at the hands of Ambertech also. My ONKYO TX-NR609 board gave up the ghost and after contacting Ambertech ???, ONKYO Global, ONKYO Asia and ONKYO EU I've pulled zero help, although Global did mention that they have extended warranties till 2018 because of this issue.

Never the less I am getting nowhere trying to get repairs.

I have read that a member "Roachy" has a contact - can I be put in touch with whomever I need, to assist.

You wouldn't be Ambertech looking for Roachy's contact to shut him down would you?

What exactly is the issue with your unit? Need more info if you want help.

My "contact" isn't anyone secret. It was just a contact at Onkyo's distributor for Singapore (from where I purchased my amp) who are the Ambertech equivalent over there. Luckily a got a response from them after no help from Ambertech, nor the Singpore dealer I purchased from. Unlike Ambertech and the dealer they were willing to provide some customer service and do all they could to help out with my problem. Luckily lamtran was also able to benefit as he was in almost the same predicament. The contact went over and above what he really needed to do.

Roachy, or anyone else that got help from Singapore: Was it Hwee Seng Electronics that assisted you on getting a HDMI board?

I have a TX-SR608 with a failed HDMI board. While the repair shop has a quoted a price to repair it, the price is too high ($580, well over second hand value) and I'm not confident they'd even be able to get the part locally as mine was imported. Interested in other options before I resort to wielding a soldering iron and probably damaging it further.

Wow, marathon thread but well worth reading. It's fantastic that Lam finally got it sorted no thanks to the local distributors (fork you Amber!) and seller. And thank you Lam for taking the time to post an update.

Also a timely reminder for would be buyers.

Yes from memory it was Hwee Seng Electonics that helped me out. Happy to say nearly 3 years of problem free use since changing the board.

Good luck with getting the 608 fixed
