ozgal Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Hi, We purchased a Samsung Smart TV 55" ES7100 two days ago. Turned the TV on this morning and cannot turn it off. Pressing the power button on the remote shows red flashes on the tv, indicating it is trying to turn off - but it remains on. To be honest I would have preferred a larger tv (our SXRD 70" has the green issue and this Samsung is the replacement). As it is only a couple of days old and already has an issue I'd be happier returning it to JB and purchasing the larger Samsung 60" plasma (think the model is E8000, not sure of best price, think I saw $2400 in another thread). Would appreciate comments about the chances of returning it and swapping for the Samsung 60". I really don't want hassles with a TV that shows a fault so early in the piece. I also do not want to have JB give me some line about having to contact the manufacturer as the tv was only purchased a couple of days ago. I believe JB's return policy is 7 days, can anyone confirm for me. Edited August 30, 2012 by ozgal
robertr Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 try switching it off at the power button, can also mean that a button is stuck on the remote.
ozgal Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Hi Robert, Thanks so much. That did the trick.

To answer your questions, JB seem to have some sort of unofficial seven day return policy but its completely discretionary. Also due to changes in the law its now at JBs discretion if they want to fix, repair or refund smaller issues (like the on / off not working). If you want to get the 60" then give them a call and ask. They could probably arrange to pick up the other one repackaged when they drop off the new one.Regards Peter Gillespie
ozgal Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Hi Peter, Good to know that about JB. If the on/off issue occurs again will think seriously about exchaning for an Samsung E8000. Many thanks for clarifying things - did not realise there had been changes in the law.
