Shah Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I have a budget of around $1000-$1500 to spend on an AVR receiver. The Cambridge Azur 340R has been recomended. However a few members on the forum have expressed their opinion that I can do better. I only need a 5.1 system. Any ideas and recommendations
DArenberg1503563335 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) Ahh this is a personnel choice question, my 2cents i have been more than happy with my Yamaha rx-v 1900 that I picked up from Harvey Norman for $1500 on a price match. Here are a couple of reviews to start you on your journey: http://hometheaterreview.com/yamaha-rx-v19...eiver-reviewed/ http://whathifi.com/Review/Yamaha-RX-V1900/ Not that I'm a fan of reviews the proof is in the listening I also looked at Marantz, Pioneer, and Denon on my short list the Pioneer to my ear was on par but more expensive at the time. Edit: 7.1 can run 5.1 and will give you the option to run 7.1 in the future if required; if not you could always use the 2 channels to Bi Amp the fronts if the AVR gives you the option and you were so inclined. dantan Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I shall certainly second the recommendation of a Yamaha RX-V1900 - if you are able to get it for $1,500.00. Otherwise, the Yamaha '863 is also a very good unit, and will comfortably fit within your budget. Dan.
