When it comes to beer, I still can't stay away from Belgium beers, like Leffe, Grimbergen, Duviel and Chimay. As for local beers, James Squires and little creatures tops my list.

Michael.

victoria bitter original ale. its beer as good as its gets....cheers

Now here's a man with taste! When my friend told me to buy some of this I refused ... thought it was some fancy marketing for VB's usual carbonated beer-flavoured cordial. Eventually he bought me a carton of the stuff - it was excellent! Easily rate it among the best beers Australia makes. It's better than the "normal" Coopers stuff and on par with Coopers Vintage Ale. Also compares well to some of the boutique breweries. This beer is a winner ... if any of you guys haven't tried it, you must try it!

i only bought it as the local liquorland had run out of my normal beer i drink. it was on special so id thought i would give it ago. its tastes as beer should taste. a few of my mates have tried it now and that is there beer of choice. if the brewery mob would promote it , it will be that popular. im with keith go and get a carton everybody or just get a six pack .you will enjoy..

im having one now....cheers

hmm well no argument there had a six pack of it last year and definetly was quite something. thanks for the reminder will try track down some more of it.

its the best beer that is made in australia i think. west australian beer is crap, alot of my friends drink eastern state brew or the international stuff. the german brews and dutch brews are hard to beat for taste...

Thanks for the Heads up Keith although I must say I'm trying NOT to find anything that tastes good in the alchohol stakes if you know what I mean... :)

my mate's home brew bourbon :)

if you want to drink bourbon, you don't drink it with coke

delicious...

If im out at a pub or club ill drink tooheys New.

At home ill drink Heineken.

And every now and again ill spoil myself by buying beez neez or little creatures pale ale.

Where do you get the Coopers vintage Ale or are you just talking about the red label stuff?

Guinness, from a can (Imported from Ireland).

On special this week, $50 a slab woohoo!! :)

Compared to the cans the Tap guinness tastes shite. :) Unless you happen to be in Dublin.

that could be right Danton, any guiness on tap would be made locally, depends on water quality and all that. Usually imported beers just arent the same here though. how do you find the can guiness vs if you have tasted it back in ireland ?

Picked up a slab of corona's for $50 last night actually..... hard getting up for work this morning :)

Coopers make great beers, I buy lots of their ‘Mild Ale’ (3.5%) coz I can drink lots without falling over & it has that yeast in the bottle taste

Coopers Vintage Ale is a huge fav of mine, buy a 6 pack when I’ve been good ($20)

Love Matilda Bay wheat beers, though I don’t but them often

Boags St George beer leaves Corona for dead me reckons

Chimay beer, love it, rarely buy it

Gunniess in cans (fantastic stuff)

Bourbon; Wild Turkey for me, 8 year old if I’ve been good. Ice only.

Whiskey; Various, Dimple is a great blend. Ice only.

Reds; Pinot Noir (Coldstream hills), Shiraz, Cab Sav, yada yada yada

Huge fan of Oz sparkling wine (drink it regularly). Seppelt Fleur de Lys NV is great value for money, can be found for less than $10. Chandon Vintage is good value @ $25.

Whites; I like ‘em all, yada yada yada

Dessert; Noble One (Debortoli), Ice Reisling, that Italian sweet sparkling Risca something

Fortifieds; where do I start? Rutherglen is the place.

I cannot stand gin though my wife likes a G&T, and I’m no fan of mixed drinks

I make mean lemon-lime & bitters (use soda, not lemonade)

I’m sure there’s more…

Have you tried the Coopers Lager yet Mr-happy-pants?

I love this beer, but after being a light beer drinker for so long it tends to knock the crap out of me if I get too thirsty.

Beer as long as its crisp and cold.

Coopers sparkling and Tooheys extra dry get a good percentage of the fridge

VB originals also get a bit of space

Cant stand bourbon

Love Vodka (though Vodka has gotten me into a lot of trouble over the years - especially when i was younger)

Wine I like big reds cant stand white or champagne. Dad has a cellar with a couple of thousand bottles down stairs at home so ive always been bought up with wine at dinner

Barcardi 151 is very nice in cocktails. My cousin works at a couple of bars in melbourne and made us (Kel and I) a killer cocktail each - 151 was a major component in this cocktail which lead to me riding a shopping trolley down Lonsdale street from swanston to latrobe in traffic. Kel was not impressed and as such I am not allowed 151 any more.

Bourbon is nice, but I like the good ones: Bookers, Maker's Mark, Bakers etc.

Aussie Sparkling is quite good but nothing compares to the good French stuff - it's the only wine I reckon we can't match them in (don't compare anything to the standard non-vintage Moet Chandon - it's crap - try the good French stuff).

G&T: fabulous drink on a hot afternoon, especially if it's humid - great drink for the tropics.

Coopers mid strength is a really nice drop but I've only seen it once in a bottle shop in Melbourne. As for the Coopers vintage, I'll have to look this up.

No, Coopers Vintage Ale has an off yellow label. It's got a limited release, and they only release the beer once a year. It's best to ask your bottle shop when the next release will be. I think it should be around May/June. The beer tends to get snapped up pretty quickly so if you want some there's only a limited window to buy them.

Lol.

I have several prior experiences with tequila. I really, really, really, like good tequila/mezcal.

I'm not allowed to drink tequila any more. Very, very, very low WAF.

I buy Coopers Vintage Ale (6.8% or similar) at Dan Murphys.

They also sell the Coopers Mild Ale (mid strentgth 3.5%). I can't get that anywhere else.

Have you tried the Coopers Lager yet Mr-happy-pants? [/b]

No, but I'll certainly try it. I''l look out for it next time in in Dan Murphys.

Grumpy, maybe you should try the Mild Ale, it's soooooo much better than the Coopers Light, or maybe you already do  .

G

I almost bought a carton of the 'mid' ale but it only comes in bottles and I prefer cans. I might have to go back to bottles again to try it.

Yes you've convinced me. I'll buy just one to try first though.

Never liked light, but Coopers mid ale is quite nice, and I normally only drink heavy.
