NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Elektra Theatre 7 On Ebay

Featured Replies

It would certainly look more legit if there were some photos of the actual amplifier, and not just pics, specs and speil ripped of from a web site.

yes many do. others do post some pics as well. If unpacked many do post a pic of the unpacked box. The guy hasnt had a sale on ebay so may be a newbie at that sort of thing. But he could be a shark as well - many out there. Theres no harm either way to take some simple precautions as you would with any ebay sale.

His ebay seller ID rings bells for me...........very similar to some forum ID's I've seen on some boards, but not identical.

My 2 CENTS Worth.

1 CENT - I would advise against buying a big ticket AV item on eBay from a 'zero-rater'. You have no idea of their history.

2 CENTS - Direct Deposit is the fastest way to lose your money as they're is nearly impossible to get your money back if it all goes pear-shaped.

well it should be fairly simple. If someone here wants to buy it then take the necessary precautions and ask for phone number and address and if local see if you can pick it up. Someone has actually done this rather than philosophize. If it makes you feel better ask for a photo of a box as Al suggests. This may or may not be of use to prospective buyers.

If interstate see if you can get someone here who is closer to the seller to have a looksie for you. Better yet ask the seller for the serial number and check with Arthur or whoever he bought it from for extra proof.

I think we are all agreed that ebay sellers with zero feedback 'can' be a risk. Probably don't need to keep harping on about it. Also remember than EVERY ebayer starts with zero feedback.

If you have doubts start a narrative with the seller. Better yet get a phone number, ring them and discuss the whole thing.

Don't let ebay or the feedback system scare you. Anyone who uses ebay knows that feedback is a joke anyway. Just use the same precautions you would if buyer something from a net business.

good luck to whoever here is actually considering buying this item.

By the way I bought my elektra in very very similar circumstances. The seller ended up pulling out as he realised he could actually afford to keep it. However he put me onto to someone else you got me and a couple of other people brand new ones for same cost. Now I have a contact who can get me elektra stuff at 3/4 rrp price.

cheers
