settle guys

djos i was having a bit of fun with you about your theatre. seriously its great. i mean that and i was very appreciative of your help, but it was a little late you have to admit that. the whole telling me to do it myself was a little unwarranted from the start. it pissed me off a little. people who have very limited knowledge on ht come here for the answers because you guys know them. i like it and appreciate you guys.

to everyone else thats cool if you wanna have a dig at me because i probably come across as an arsehole for saying that but i'm not i was just pissed off at djos for giving me the cold shoulder. all i did was ask a few questions on a new technology i'm not familiar with. go easy on me

You would have got the same response from any of us had we gotten in there before djos. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and plenty of your questions have been covered before, numerous times. Bulletin boards have a search function, and ours is no different. Feel free to ask questions but if youre not going to bother doing a simple search BEFORE you ask the question, youre not going to get much help here.

kamma, I suggest you learn how to use emoticons as your comments were interpreted by all and sundry and 100% negative. Even your "attempt" at sarcasm in your original questions was merely taken as ignorance on your part.

eg: DJos, your theatre is crap! :P <-- that's sarcasm.

you were too kind here djos, I wouldnt have bothered, some people are really not worth it

What can I say, Im a big softy at heart. :D

i am not a sony fan boy or a supporter of hd-dvd yet. i am leaning towards hd-dvd because they seem to be available now and already 2nd gen players are out. i heard samsungs first player doesn't even play blu ray movies. that kinda sucks.

Fair enough.

You see many of us have been here a while, we have seen all sorts, stirrers, smart A's, arrogant pr..ks. know it alls etc., some left others got the moderators boot, but when something untoward is seen, we are like band of virtual brothers, that is when the ceiling falls in. So ask or make a statement in a civil manner and all will be rewarded.

i know what you mean.

i post at a footy club forum and when we suspect a troll on the boards we also stick together and give it to them both barrels. i am not troll

i genuinely just needed a few questions answered, it seems i didn't ask them in the correct way????

Personally i think djos theater looks stunning given the space.

anyway back on topic.... :blink: still waiting for my reply from the dealer. im guessing once CEDIa is over we will have an answer.

Guys getting back on topic, have you read the VP50 review just posted? Where the reviewer made a comparison on fan noise between the VP50 and the HD-A1. He seems to be saying that the HD-A1 is quite a noisy beast.

Have just committed to buying one off my contact on the AVSForum. Total price inc. 3-5 day US airmail AU$740. Hopefully ship tomorrow. Sorry dazbug I was given strict instructions to spend the money today or it was gonna be taken off me by the missus!

guys, i'm keen ... my only issue is that I need to be able to pay via amex .... ebay rules it out as paypal only takes mastercard or visa .....

I'm ok with longer shipping as I'm still waiting for the VP50 to start shipping (rumoured this week????) and a HD PVR ....

A lot of people dont like taking Amex because of additional charges, so may be a bit of a drama...

The discs shipped beginning of last week from Amazon, so I imagine if there is no delays with the shipping of the player, they should all come in around the same time. Looking forward to it...no to get my bloodt BenQ Pj back/repaired/replaced!

Hey daz,

Your initial post and this thread re-energised my interest in buying this player. I was forever waiting for M$ to announce details/availability of the HD-DVD add-on (most likely announced this weekend at X06) but as the M$ insider Amir says on the AVSForums, a dedicated player would still be the way to go. Your thread basically got me to pull my finger out and make a decision, but I had to make it quick or the missus would take the cash off me! Anyway what Im saying is thanks mate, and if your ever over in Perth you can pop in for a beer and a movie!
