Hi A9X,

I found those links useful. I stumbled upon this one http://www.customaudiocables.com.au/ ... have you (or others) dealt with them ?

No, I've never dealt with them before, but they look professional and the products listed are good so they're very likely a safe bet. Thanks for the link.
Also, any thoughts on quality of Canare cable versus Mogami cable ? Think both made in Japan ?

Thanks,

Ed

I doubt there's a lot of difference between them at all, and I would personally have no problem using either, or an equivalent Belden.

Foryou,

How long are they and what$$ do you want?

A question for Zaphod Beeblebrox

Does the length of cable being used have any effect on the sound quality? What I mean is, does the longer the cable, be it speaker or interconnect or HDMI etc, have negative results in the overall reproduction of the sound?

Cheers

I'm going to get one or two pairs of balanced IC's made up so i'll post some feedback here in a week or two.

BTW does your updated location (i'm a westie now) indicate Sydney western suburbs, or Western Australia :) ?

I've tried Mogami with WBTs

Canare with cheap jaycar plugs

and my diy Silver plated wire with Eichmanns with litlle

if any discernable difference.

But I have to admit trying some (err forgot brand :)) Hero's at 56's place abd noticed a difference. Was it ant better ??

Don't forget the Acker Dacker tee-shirt or grubby (Bali) Bintang singlet :).

Tee is better so that pack of smokes can be tucked into the sleeve.

Also flannel shirt looks best worn over the top of either of tee or singlet, but must be untucked and no buttons done up, or tied around the waist :).

(Disclaimer: I like ACDC a lot and have owned flannel shirts)

Thanks Joz,

I don't expect much (if any) difference but thinking to get one pair of ic's based on Mogami cable and one pair based on Canare cable, both terminated with Neutrik XLR's. I do need two pairs so a mix n match might be interesting, and i want to compare the finished product offered by two (of many) sources ... for future reference ... if i ever get around to implementing an external XO to better integrate my subbies i'll need even more ic's ... a veritable rat's nest of cables, power boards, etc.:)

Sorry to be quoting myself but I have remembered the brand, they were Kimber Hero's.

So both the Canare and Mogami were coax.

Mine were twin wires twisted

and the Kimber were the usual (for them) 3 wire braid.

To use I think I liked the Mogami only because the cable was so pliable and not as stiff as the others.

To look at the Kimbers are quite nice.

But the WBT plugs were the sexiest.

But in the end none offered me anytthing worth changing for.

Hi Nick,

Interesting link and very neat looking work. I admire those with the time and hand skills to do that.

Hi Joz I don't remember the Kimber cable ,I did have Ceramic Technology's IC's .

Maybe I should have pulled out the cryo'ed stuff I had.

Hi again Joz was that the short IC we tried and we didn't notice much difference between the home brews .

with the exchange rate and postage at $10 to $15 and the cable costing $20 a meter, not much of a saving to keep someone in canada in a job.

40% is not enough saving for you ? Fair enough - keep supporting the local economy - Uncle Rud wants you! :D

OK, a PM from Flemo reminded me to post some feedback so here goes:

I ordered a 1.5m pair from Custom Audio Cables (Adelaide) and a 3.0m pair from Puresonics (Sydney). Both were very good to deal with and both made up and despatched my order the following working day. With busy work and home lives it took me some days to get to the PO box and some more days to get around to installing. One pair installed CDP-to-pre, other pre-to-power.

Both pairs seem neatly made. Limited critical listening time so far but both seem fine. Soundwise there is possibly (?) slight improvements in soundstage dimensions and channel separation, and has all but eliminated a nasty startup 'pop' i had with unbalanced ic's.

OMG, is that the time:eek:. Better get a few hours kip before the kids wake up. Nightie night.

Hi Guys,

I usally make my own and have tried many different types of wire, but my favorite so far would be Silver Cables as per this site. There sweet!

http://diyaudioprojects.com/Power/diySilver/

Also not expensive to make.

i noticed they they use o.7mm silver

try some 0.4mm silver and feed it through cotton tubing or teflon tubing.2 conductors for each polarity.braided

have a look at photo.i have noticed that rca make a diffrence aswell.depends on ones system.i used to use silver but now i am back to copper, silver kills timbers of instruments
