Make sure it can only be used in one direction (there'll be an arrow printed on the jacket so you don't get it wrong and completely ruin everything) and don't use silver plated conductors 'cause they'll make everything shiny - especially if it's used for video 'cause it'll make your picture too bright - but 0.99999999999% pure silver conductors will be sweet as long as they've got a golden ratio cross section and aren't stranded 'cause electrons jump between strands - that's when they turn into capacitors and completely ruin everything - or if they're too fat the signals travel on the outside because of the skinny effect which makes everything too lean. Gold is better. Classic. Nice laugh for the weekend! Cheers Callum
  2. i am amazed how things have changed for me and how I listen to music these days. I find I listen to stuff on you tube.. very lofi but man can you come across some eclectic interesting stuff. Gone for me are the days of very high end CDP and AMP - now it is a HT set up and the PS3/PC for music. Although I am considering a DAC... Sorry that was a little off topic. I have been listening to a guy who is 'beat boxing' at the same time as playing a flute. Such tunes as its a hard knock life and peter and the wolf. very enjoyable .. and of course that starts the inevitable journey around you tube to weird and wonderful musical styles so not hifi but good fun!

It wasnt a bash it was a comment on service received. It just happened to be Eastern. Could have been anyone. I thought the OP was very good. No vitriol, no bashing, just an opinion in how he/she was treated. Even said they would go back. How is that bashing? I am sure people other than Niel in the industry read these forums. That sort of feedback is valuable. I am sure most employers would like to know that their staff follow up on 'hot' leads. I hope that you dont really mean "stick to positive feedback", that would make a very boring forum. Sure avoid hate, abuse and baiting, but constructive feedback on things is interesting. Sparks debate and lets people air there views in a good way.
  4. oh that is just beautiful! so the speakers sound like an ox farting?

  6. thats now the CD and DVD store.. does it still have the vinyl section?
  7. true but she reached the sun kissed nirvana which was completely at odds with the tone of the rest of the movie. what I call a disney ending... the endings designed to please with scant regard for the story.
  8. I like that ending too (the alternate one) I guess the other bits in the movie would also indicate that they HADNT lost all humanity like he comments at one point.

After all .... we all spend plenty of time on the www round here & bands will probably just issue PDF's with all that kind of stuff for those that want it. I think HDD's are the way to go and I too will really miss the tactile part of music at the moment - for me CD, case, disc, liner notes etc. With HDD the amount of extra you can provide will be immense, interviews, pics, clips etc, you just wont get something to hold as such. All to be viewed on your tv, comp or MP3 player. I think that is where it is going, that is where I am heading, albeit almost without concious choice.. MP3 player in the car PS3 in the lounge Things like YOUTUBE ont he pc (not audiophile) but there is a WORLD of music out there I would never ever have heard previously.. even resulted in me buying some CD's To quote a famous line... "hard drives, hard drives every where and not a cd to hear" (water water everywhere and not a drop to drink) Bad I know but it is almost the end of the day
  10. damn! I wish I had realised that.. I might have to check it out. Thanks Adam
  11. IMHO, if it is only HDMI you are worried about I wouldnt worry. HDMI wouldnt be my connection of choice at this stage. All personal preference. The gear I run isnt able to use HDMI. When I upgrade to a decent panel it will have HDMI but I wont use it. I will be using Componet for picture and glass fibre optical cable for sound. I dont like the picture i have seen on hdmi, i prefer component. So that is the way i will go. But that is my choice. I can see that you are annoyed that you were sold a FUTURE PROOF item. And I would be annoyed too, but the reality is that MW is right. There is no future proof. Not in ANY industry. I think the marketers should lose the 'futureproof' tag.
  12. Ok, seen this now too. Generally I thought the movie was pretty good. I got some things out of the movie I didnt get out of the book so that was good. The version of the DVD I had had really weird sound.. made it sound like it had been dubbed over later.. very odd. But if you do like the book then the movie is worth a watch. They have to handle some things differently due to time restraints and the fact that it is a movie not a book but generally I think they stay as true as can be expected to the original story. Overall I am glad I saw the movie. Now I am reading the book that Howls Moving Castle was based on! Wish me luck LOL
  13. I just saw this movie last night. Barring the ending is AWFUL. I didnt mind that Will died.. but the finding the camp in the hills was just baaaaad. What was the point of the cure anyway.. everyone that was still alive was immune! I know I know.. cure all the afflicted but really unless there was actually someone that was infected that needed curing that you knew in the movie, the point as a plot reason was just wasted. If the cure was the reason then more time needed to be spent on the one he cured so you knew they were human again. My summary is that it is kinda fun but just rendered a little pointless by the ending.
  14. wow GOOD spotting mycenius I will have to see if I have any sony r1 discs and try it on my ps3. It is about the only thing that pisses me off about the ps3, region coding!! ARGHHH
  15. dc val check out www.missionmetallica.com has some "preview" of what is to come. Shows promise.
  16. Hehehe Brings to mine "guns n roses" album Chinese Democracy. That one is 15years in the making with only Axl as the orig Gunner. Supposedly it has been handed to the record company for release. Still will probably check it out.. even though I didnt rate Spaghetti Incident.
  17. wow, i didnt realise whitesnake were still releasing
  18. probably didnt do their research and didnt know what else he has done.
  19. are naxos and telarc still good bets? (as labels i mean)
  20. Now I am a Metallica fan, The new album is due out in Sept. After St Anger, kicking out Jason Newsted, rehabs and Some Kind of Monster (which I havent seen) my head is telling me to not get excited about this album. With the band trying to get on the electronic distribution after suing Napstar... Many troubling things over Metallicas recent history... But my heart is AMPING for this album.. I am hoping it is heavy and driven.. still doing something new with out copying the old stuff like Master Of Puppets. But still showing the legacy and roots of where they have been. I hope it is different from Load and Reload (which i actually like mostly) I am hoping the band can grow and be great again.. I am hoping I am not seeing the death throws of a once mighty metal act. Possibly because if I see the end of Metallica, it is like the end of my youth or at least a big part of it. I know what ever happens I will buy the album.. maybe it is foolish but deep down I am a Metallica Fan Anyone else feel the pain of a fan hoping for the best from their band but feaing the worse?
  21. Slightly OT - but congrats on getting out after the birth of your child! That can be a mission the first time!
  22. Good post steve. I cant name any particular song, but I have never bought a Queen "Greatest Hits" for similar reasons. I have all there albums and have no desire to get fragments of thier albums mashed together in what record companies feel is a great package. However I can see why the appeal to a casual listener. And just to counter my own argument... Two of my favourite metal bands Judas Priest and Iron Maiden have good best of's. Admittedly Iron Maiden seem to have gone overboard with this stlye of album, but Priests "Live" was good as was Maidens "Live after Death" Best ofs can be a good way of getting a broad overview of an artists catalogue, i know it can be flawed as indicated in the post re Rod Stewart, but can intorduce a person to a deeper look at that artist sometimes. My first Queen album was on cassette and was Live Killers (hummm i see a pattern emerging with my best ofs LOL) and after getting that I went on to get all their albums, much to the disgust of my metal head mates at the time

But this adulation may be short-lived. With his next projects "Frankieweenie" and "Alice In Wonderland", he may well be back at the turkey farm. All I can say to a post like this is thank god for personal opinions!
