  4. Hey guys, have a thread here about wanting to sell my DVDO Edge for $600 plus p&h DVDO Edge thread Thanks
  5. Hey guys, im wanting to sell my DVDO Edge as i have no use for it. This DVDO Edge has never been used, as i sent my old one off as it was DOA brand new, and, they just replaced it, and havent used it except for testing it out. Im asking $600 ono plus postage and handling. If no one wants to buy it on these boards, i will just put it on Ebay. Comes with DVDO Edge, Remote, and Manual. Thanks guys.
  6. i think the zotac mag does support it, but it would be support via windows, and whatever the software that decodes it is. i dont think that its a permanent feature in xbmc, it just takes a while for all the latest and greatest hardware/audio to be supported. all my m2ts blu-ray rips all have there dts-hd streams intact, cause as soon as they are supported in xbmc, they will play like they should. so, its just a waiting game. and Aus PC Market has them online for $510 i think. When you think about it, thats a fantastic price for a HTPC that can do it all. sure, you will have to wait for dts-hd, and truehd to be supported via xbmc, but, thats no big deal.
  7. XBMC will not output DTS-HD MA , or True-HD, it will down convert it to DTS or AC3 audio stream. Im not sure what the deal with is in windows, but, thats how it is in linux. XBMC also wont play blu-ray iso's. never has....and it wont for a very long time. All blu-ray's have to be muxed with tsmuxer, and the revelent m2ts streams have to be ripped from it. XBMC plays m2ts streams perfectly, no need to re-encode to mkv. Also, if planning on using linux...which is the best option out there, you will need to go for a nvidia video card, as they are the only cards supported in XBMC with gpu acceleration (vpdau), and this feature is a linux only feature. I think the 9xxx cards and the 2xx cards are supported under xbmc. The joy of having a GPU accelerated XBMC, is that all your 1080p content is flawless, and, the need for a high end cpu is pointless. you could run it on a single core if you wanted too. you can also setup a mythtv backend, which can be navigated in a XBMC frontend, for all your pvr needs. I would recommend though, instead of having a full HTPC box in your living room, using an in ion atom/nvidia solutions. they have either single, or dual core atoms out, but, 1080p content, on XBMC, can run on the single core atom, with gpu acceleration. And then you could just stream from another room, from your server/mythtv backend, all the content in the world to your ion based, XBMC front end. definately the best solution out there. i would check out the Zotac MAG that has just come out, it looks amazing. its about 500 bucks. if you have any other questions just ask, im always on the xbmc forums reading up about all the new stuff i can do to my XBMC box.
  8. The Pana doesnt have any input lag, and is perfect for all the things mentioned, and as i use my xbox alot on my pana, i would recommend it for gaming. (went through 2 lcd's to figure that one out) I would definately urge you to get the extended warrenty, and preferably instore. As the panasonic warrenty is definately pricey. ($600 for 2 years, $1000 for 4) The panasonic comes with an optical out, so, you will be fine outputting what ever is plugged into it into your amp.
  9. Cant you just connect it to your tv? Ive got my HTPC hidden in a corner, and all its got running from it, is the power, and a hdmi that is connected to my plasma. (If your HTPC doesnt have hdmi, you can get a video card for 100 bucks that has it) the software running all my movies (over 800) and tv shows (over 50), is xbmc...look into it. Supports all file types, and also supports dvd iso, with menu and all. Probably the best way to stream your movies with full hi def, and all supported hi def audio. Supports all kind of cool stuff, like having plot/rating/actors etc etc for every movie. Add to that a wireless keyboard/mouse like a logitech dinovo mini, and your good to go. Or Power DVD 9 looks to be another front end you could think about. has some interesting features. Might be more user friendly, have used it as of yet.
  10. Panasonics only come with 12 month warranty. As for pricing...off last years models, for a 42inch plasma, for 2 years, its $400, and for an extra 4 years, its $750. Pricing is absolutely rediculous. But, what i would do, seeing as the sales assistant gave you incorrect warranty info, i would be ringing them up, and telling them. And saying you want an instore warrenty on the tv, or you will return it. Because, basically, they have lied/given you false information. They should have any troubles upping your warrenty for the tv.
  11. well, it turns out guys, it was actually just the sub cable. hah. swapped it over, and everything is working like it should. thanks guys for the tips and hints.
  12. the subwoofer is all by its lonesome in the in the corner of the room, plugged into the wall, with nothing else plugged into the outlet in the wall. the power cable goes to the wall one way, and the sub cable goes the other way, so, they are not even near each other.
  13. The sub has a Phase switch, with either, 0° and 180° It also has a Power switch next to that, with either auto, or on. Then there is the volume and cross over dials. Using Phase 0° or 180° does nothing, there is always the constant hum. Turning the cross over dial does nothing either. The low hum only happens when the sub cable is plugged in, once its removed, there is no sound. So i guess that eliminates a sub problem. (this is my first sub ive setup, so, im kinda in the dark as what im meant to be doing, but, as far as im aware, i should be able to run the lead from the amp, to the sub, and it works? hah)
  14. Hey guys, ive got a problem, ive got a loan amp at the moment, just so i can test the new speakers out, while i wait for my proper amp to come in. the amp is a denon 1709. the sub is a focal chorus 700v and the cable used is a 5mtr tara labs sub cable. now ive connected it up, the preout on the amp, with the cable, and into the LFE on the back of the sub. as soon as its turned on, i get the hum. ive fiddled around with some settings on the amp, but nothing seems to get rid of it. any surgestions guys? thanks
  15. Well, i emailed Tivo, and got a response back. It goes as follows; Email to Tivo; Just wonder if there is an option to arrange the channels the way i want. So, i can group 7, and 7hd together, and 9, and 9hd etc etc together. At the moment, it just goes by channel number, which is kind of annoying. If not, will this feature be added to a new firmware upgrade? Thanks for your time. Response from Tivo Hi Joel, This is not a feature TiVo supports at this time, and we are not aware of this feature being added to any updates in the near future. We hope this response has been of assistance and as a valued customer we appreciate your feedback. For any future enquires related to this issue please reply to this message leaving the reference number in the subject. Remember you can always find out about TiVo's latest features and find help for a number of common queries at: www.tivo.com.au Regards TiVo Support _________________________________ So, i guess that settles it...Tivo arent gonna do anything about it...idiots. Seems like they could implement it in 5 minutes if they really wanted too.
  16. seems like such a simple thing to leave out....oh well. i will email tivo anyway and ask them, hopefully they come back with a response i want to hear.
  17. Oh my tv itself, its quite easy to group the different channels with each other. so, abc1 abchd abc2 7 7hd 9 9hd 10 onehd sbshd sbstwo kinda like that, so its all nice and neat, and i know what channel is next. but, is there an option in the tivo where i can do something like that? ive deleted all the double up channels i dont need, but, thats about the only option i see. any help guys would be appriecated...maybe it just cant be done. thanks.
  18. so i got a dvdo edge a few weeks ago in the group buy that was on these forums. now all ive got connected to it is, htpc via hdmi xbox 360 via hdmi xbox 360 via component and fibre wii via component it was version 1.1, and it worked fine the first week i would say. i then put my toslink cable for my 360, so i could get digital sound out of it. and thats when the problems started. i would be playing a game on it, and it would just go a blank screen. which would require me to turn the edge off, then back on, for the image to come back up, and then it would work for another few minutes or so, then it would happen again, and i would have to repeat the whole process. now i have just updated it to version 1.2, and i cant get anything, the menu comes up, but as soon as i turn on anything (htpc, wii, 360) it comes up with just like a darkish green screen, and the menu is kinda frozen there, at which point, it goes back to the blue screen once i turn off what ever it was that i had just turned on. so it would seem that it might be broke? anyone else had any other experiances with that? and thats with everything set to auto.
  19. is the g10 1080p, or 720p? ive been told different things, but on the panasonic website, the g10's are 1080p.
  20. hah, needless to say, i was doing something wrong. works perfectly now the remote...now just gotta try and figure out what settings to use on the edge.
  21. i got a price today for the 50 inch g10, for 3350, which i thought was a pretty good price.
  22. thanks man, great pointers there, i will go back to them and give them the info. really appreciate it.
  23. Now i dont know much about speakers at all, so i thought i would ask some questions here. my folks are just about to get a setup, and were quoted with the following, for a 5.1 setup; Front - Chorus 714 V - RRP $1300 Rear - Chorus SR 700 V - RRP $900 Centre - Chorus CC 700 V - RRP $680 Sub - Chorus SW 700 V - RRP $1300 ive looked on there website, and they seem alright, entry level speakers. is there any better brand of speakers in that price range that they should be looking at? if you could give me some tips, or point me in the right direction, or who knows, they might be alright speakers, it would be greatly appreciated.
  24. yeah, it definately is classy, but doesnt seem to want to learn, tried multiple remotes, either im doing something wrong, or its broke.
  25. finally got mine....anyone having trouble getting the universal remote to learn off your old remote? it doesnt even pick mine up.
