  1. I have to relate my Samsung experience. Bought 46 inch LCD 2 years ago. It came with only 12 month warranty and I did not get extended warranty. The TV recently started doing strange things over the period of 2 or 3 days deteriorated to the point it was unwatchable. I called Samsung and also emailed them with a photo of the screen of the TV with the distorted images clearly showing. They called back within 24 hours to say that they would agree to fix as an under warranty repair, extended my warranty to 3 years, booked a service person in to come and repair - he comes tomorrow. Could not be more impressed with their service.
  2. Hi all, I have a Samsung LCD Series 7. To ploay movies I generally just load to a USB and plug in (long way around I know). But yesterday I got a message I had not seen before....something like "this resolution not supported". File is and AVI file, a format I have used before on this TV. Does anyone know how to fix? Thanks in advance.
  3. Anyone else been waiting a long time for these BluRays to be delivered. Was told they won't even be in the country for another 3 to 4 weeks?
  4. That's what I was told. I took my LCD home lying flat still in box and have had no problems.
  5. I got the 7 series for $3100 at JBs about 3 weeks ago. Seemed a pretty good price but I know they were just about out of stock so maybe the new stock is coming at new prices?
  6. I am one who has just converted to LCD from Plasma. As others have mentioned, each has pros and cons but the big one for me was burn in. I got my first Hitachi plasma nearly 11 years ago (yes the very early days). After 4 years or so the screen brightness had faded significantly and there was significant burn in and problems caused by constant switches between 4:3 and 16:9. My second plasma, a Sony, went the same way after about 4 or 5 years. This time I went for the LCD. I did all the usual standing in front of screens in TV outlets for hours trying to cconvince myself that one was better than the other. Truth is, I think the plasma nowadays do still have an edge with the blacks and fast movement (although if you are getting significant pixellation you have either done something at install or the set is faulty) but for normal family viewing, it's just not that significant. My wife and kids just don't sit there and complain about the blacks being not as black as on our old plasma. These sorts of posts (and arguments) ignore the fact that everyone has different drivers. For me, it was about less power, less weight and hopefully, most importantly longer shelf life (my first plasma cost me $12,500, I sold it 5 years later for just on $450, I don't want to keep burning money like that). So sure I would agree plasma picture quality has a slight (and decreasing edge). But it is not the most important driver for many people and that is why variety exists.
