  1. Any updates? I'm slowly going nuts with no home cinema over here. If this keeps up, I might have to develop hobbies
  2. I gather we will all pay webby - routed through his business for security - and then he will pay the supplier. I'm in for this buy. Can't wait to try out this projector at home.
  3. Excellent...I'm still interested in the pricing on the panny myself..I like what I read about it...but I guess the more options the better. Also...I've not done a GB on here before, can someone fill me in as to how payment works...is it cash to a central person, or can we pay via cards etc....sorry for a noob question!
  4. Yeah...but then at the same time I got a second hand grey import AE2000 and watched it daily for nearly 4 years before it died...so there's an element of chance to these things I think.
  5. Love to hear if anyone has any experience on this projector. I had a panasonic PTAE2000 that's kicked the bucket....trying to decide if I can afford to get the PTAE7000 in the group buy....but this looks tempting with the lower price. I'm not familiar with DLP technology really though, or indeed any of the optoma projectors...so can anyone tell me what they think the quality would be like compared to older LCD 1080 things like the ae2000? Any pros/cons I should know about? Thanks for any help guys
  6. I'm also interested depending on the final price. My AE2000 just kicked the bucket...so it's time for me to invest...but it's going to come down to the price unfortunately as I'm on a tight budget at the moment.
  7. I'm interested...will depend on the price for me as i'm on a budget but sounds interesting that's for sure.
  8. Thanks for the help guys. Ended up picking up the 607 from Shelby...seemed like a good way to get the power I wanted without breaking out of the budget problem I had....thanks heaps for the recomendation....really appriciate it.
  9. Hi Everyone. My receiver recently died and I'm looking to get a new one, unfortunately, work conditions have got tough of late and so i'm a lot more budget concious than I would have once been. Basicly I want to go as cheap as possible, but still get as much bang out of my existing equipment as possible. My previous amp was a Yamaha RX-V3800...but i'm considering jumping to a new brand, firstly because I can't afford any of the new models in that class, and also because I'm gone through a few Yamaha amps pretty fast.. I know they have a good rep, but to be honest I've been a bit underwhelmed. My thinking is if i'm going to have to replace it often anyway, might as well have a cheaper model to start with...no point paying for build quality that isn't there. But maybe that's harsh! Anyway...so my setup is Running 7.1 (or I guess it's really a simulated 9.1 if you add in the 'presence' speakers the Yamaha had but i'm not too fussed) The power requirements of my speakers are: Maximum Load: 400 watts Nominal Load: 140 watts Ohms: 6 So i've been looking at the Onkyo options out there. Seems I can get a 508 for about $750 or a 608 for about $1300 If I understand the manuals online, (got a bit mixed up with the different ohms and international versions) but I think the Onkyo 508 has a nominal rating of 130w per chanel. and the 608 has a nominal rating of 150w per channel at 6ohms. My questions are: 1. Is it bad for the speakers/amp to nominally overpower or underpower by a figure of 10w like that? Last thing I want to do is damage my speakers cos I can't afford new ones. Likewise the longer the amp lasts the better so don't want to unduely stress anything out. Basicly - I can't seem to find a straight answer on what the risks would be if any...or if it's worth me spending nearly double to avoid slightly underpoweing it or if the overpower is just as bad. 2. If both those amps suck...what is the best thing I could get for speakers of those ratings within a similar buget? I tend to watch bluray on projector via HDMI, not fussed about 3d or anything as the projector isn't capiable. But i do try and have everything else as nice as possible...DTS-MA etc. Thanks so much for any help, I'm really bad at understanding the power ratings and stuff and it all blows my mind.
  10. I'd be tempted to pick this up on blu for that awesome aeroplace sequence in lossless...but I can't handle what they've done to the superman character for the rest of the movie!
  11. I don't really have anything to trade..but if you decide to sell this title let me know
  12. I updated to the newest online firmware using the ethernet port yesterday, and the hack worked again on my aussie model.
  13. Can someone tell me what those 5 titles are? BTW...i'm new to the PS3 thing....I have a region B stand alone (samsung) and just got a region A ps3 (cos i wanted to go multizone) and I'll confess i was a little nervous...you know cos of the console thing and how bad the ps2 is at dvd and all that kind of thing....but I've been really blown away by its peformance. I used to be a bit of a snob, but now owning a PS3 I think people with attitudes about them really are misinfomed or should try the player. Although I do prefer to bitstream...the PCM DTS is pretty awesome, and the general build quality surpasses any BD player i've used or seen.
  14. Really - which version in 2.36? On my amp is says its receiving pcm in 7.1 - when I load rambo...but it doesn't really? I havn't actually watched the full film yet just put it on to make sure it loaded ok. I should check it out.

  16. Hey Guys, Just thought i'd let you know i posted the disk to AJM last night...so he should get it in a couple of days Thanks again for the lend Oh and Tiger Fan - i have a 1400 and this disk worked fine for me. Thanks
  17. Hey All, Looking for a good quality upscaling dvd player (to 1080p) that I can connect via HDMI to my CIH set-up. I love my CIH set up and although I don't watch too many movies with subtitles it has started to annoy me now and then....eg Munich and 30 days of Night. These films have just the occasional subtitle (off the screen) so then its either flip ratios constantly or give in and and sit there watching something in 1/2 the size i could normally. Insane making. But i'm told that dvd players exist where I can select where the subtitles appear on screen...so that those of us with CIH can get the words to appear off the black bars and higher in the picture. So if anyone knows of a good player that does this...i'd love to know. In particualr i was thinking about something like an oppo...but i'm not sure if they do it.... thanks in advance.
  18. Yep. Sorry for the delay...got stuck at work and didn't get a chance to use it as fast as i'd expected. I'll finish off with it tonight and then get it in the mail tomorrow to AJM
  19. Oh damn...I'm in the market for a HD LCD for my sister and would have found that info very usefull... to the OP...Doesn't going the HTPC route mean you can't get full HD sound as yet?
  20. I have the japanase version of Kill Bill p1 - with the color scenes and I can't say i'll upgrade unless I can get that cut again...has anyone seen the japanese version of p2 is it also different?
  21. wonder how this effects the optional remote? I'm considering getting a region A ps3 soon.
