I had my plasma changed by the retailer because of the buzzing noise, it was pretty annoying. Ask the retailer for a swap. great service by panasonic, i got a firmware cd in the mail the week before for my ex77 recorder and now im getting a firmware update for my px70!

hi i had a panasonic 42px70 that was buzzing pretty loud from the back. I sent to it service and they said it was normal, i complained to where i bought it as it was only a week old and they replaced it with a new unit which now doesnt buzz unless i stick my ear on the back casing i'd say if you can hear it buzzing standing in front of the unit, its not normal

just noticed that you cut the sticky tape on top. did you cut the tape and lift the screen out from the top of the box?

that looks normal to me. ive opened 2 42px70 boxes and both had 3 individual foam pieces, not 1 which ran the length of the box. ive still got my box in the shed if you want me to send you pics. if you got floor stock the blue plastic bags the silver vertical feet came in would have been opened already

i had my tv replaced for a different problem and i still get the sound break up problem on all the HD channels. It may be getting worse because we are listening out for the problem, i never noticed it until i read this thread. Would be good if we can get a fix. also my new panel was manufactured in july, the old in may if that helps.

i havent tried a dvd, but i was watching a show on the hdd last night and then at 7.30 it automatically started recording top gear. so thats a yes for the hdd. you can even turn the unit on and off and it will happily continue recording. The unit also has a analogue tuner, which i didnt see advertised anywhere.

Hi all i bought the ex77 last week for $640 at jb hifi. its a great unit. easy to use and integrates well with the 42px70 plasma. i was reading on another forum that this unit had issues with recordings getting "stuck" on the aspect ratio at the start of recording, but i recorded the football on sbs today which started off with 16:9 for the intro, 4:3 with the black bars for the game then 16:9 after the game. ive also recorded foxtel 16:9 to the hard drive, then transfered it to a dvd-r which i then played on my older ex75 in another room and it played in 16:9 fine. i did have a problem with dvd+rw media, the unit had difficulties formatting it, reset itself a couple of times then said i had a incompatible disc. i threw them out and used dvd-r and all was ok.

hi all, Ive had my 42px70 for about 2 weeks and it does the same thing. I get the sound break up only on channel 10 HD and when there is a black background and white text. eg those domestic violence ads and the end of the government ads My tv is being replaced (separate issue) in a week or 2 so ill let you know if it happens on the replacement set.
