  1. Question for DP-H1 User's I can't Copy or Move a recording from the DP-H1 registered drive to another properly formated usb drive.. In fact the PopUp Gui will only allow the network to be selected & I can't select the usb device! (This usb drive works when performing this function with the Dpp-1) I'm using dec28....197 firmware on both units Has anyone else noticed this Thanx in advance for any info Kim
  2. ......I hope that the scratches are on the plastic covering stuck over the front panel.....if it has the plastic covering on it then remove it & you will have the pristeen front panel...this is what it did
  3. ........I look here weekly for the 5.1 audio streams all the time keep the good work up if you still have the time
  4. .....now I've just pulled the trigger on a dph-1 & I want to buy a usb powered hd so I can easilly move files between my comfuserer the dpp-1 & the dph-1 & not worry about the complication of an ext power pac ......I've got my eye on this http://www.lacie.com/au/products/product.htm?pid=10990 ..... lacie mobile usb Hd ......but I'm also interested in any usb powered hd that is proven to work only on usb supplied power or even on a powered hub ...so if you can post proven one's that work I'd appreciate it .........& thanx for that ......1 more question for those that may have an answer.... ......the mybook wd hd that is connected to my dpp1 is partitioned in both fat32 & ntfs & does a great job for pvr transfers on the standard fat 32 format & 5gig vobs on the ntfs for dvd 1 to 1 movie copies...... .........I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same on the hd on the dp h-1..... has any one had any luck with Partitioned drives on the dph-1 ......I'm going to try to replicate this fat 32 format as the internal drives on the DP-S1 and -P1, and external drives formatted for recording on the DP-H1 with "Register USB HDD" are formatted as FAT32 with a non-standard cluster size, it's much bigger @ 512kB......I'm hoping that I'll be able to do this special format & get a partition to work .....If this doesn't work I guess I could always have a 2nd ntfs drive connected using the other usb port on the H-1 for my dvd movie's with their greater than 4 gig vobs although this is in the Bwiz forum Enhancement requests 1. Recording/playback enhancements: (a) The ability to register a partition as the recording drive, rather than the whole hard drive. .......Thanx in advance for any info..... ........................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- .......... kim . .
  5. .....Thanx for the quick answer diesel ........does this mean that you can stream these files (vobs) between the dpp1 & dp-h1.... as it wasn't clear wether they were talking about bwiz files or Vobs.... ......the 1.5hr crash is also disapointing & I'd read that before also........ ........... Kim . .
  6. ...I'm thinking about buying a DP-H1 & connecting it to a Dpp-1 ....I have a pp-1 with an external hd full of dvd movies in signal 4 to 5gig vobs & I was wondering if I connected the Dpp-1 to DP-H1 via a ethernet cable could I watch these movies & have the same limited control when using them with the DP-H1 & it's remote..... ................I don't have a network @ the moment & the thought using of the Dp-h1 to view & control my movies on the DPP-1 with the Dp-h1 in another location is very appealing.... ................I checked the Bwiz forum but there are no answers to this specific Q there....... it mainly discusses playing back bwiz recorded files this way ... ................ I've tried to sign up on 2 ocassions but as yet have been unable to post .....Any answers or posts would be appreciated............ ................. --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- .................
  7. As a media player this unit works well in playing back dvd movie signal vobs ......has any one been able to play back the original blue ray files via the bwiz on external drives/ network .. as Usb/ firewire blue ray external read drives are in the mid to low $200's.....a fairly cheep way to go when connected to your PC so enabling the recording of the files to the Hd etc......mmm with my lack of knowledge the Bwiz spec's & codecs look like it may be possible.... ..maybe the blueray drive could be connected directly to the bwiz with a firm-ware update as well MPEG-2 Video MPEG-2 MP@HL up to 1080i MPEG-4.2 Video for DivX MPEG-4.2 up to 720p MPEG-4.10 (H.264) Video MP@L4.0 and HP@L4.0 up to 1080i ( these blue ray files would be very large & 1 to 1 copy would be the way to go ...the amount of time for trans-coding will be a huge issue as well as the quality loss ). ....or am I dreaming.... .....Thanx in advance for any info... .................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ..................... . .
  8. .......thanx for the info 'GJR' & diesel ........this is a very good machine & I'd recomend it to any-body .............. --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ....... . .
  9. .......Hi 'GJR' or any other pp1 owners ............. I was doing some recording this arvo & put my hand on top of the Bwiz & noticed it was a little hot to touch... over the power supply this makes me a bit unconfortable.......32 uphere tho' & on fast channel changing & at other times when the watched ntwk switches from the hd to sd comercials I get the loss of signal icon but it always comes good 1 0r 2 seconds later...the unit is showing good signal strenth on the now & next info bar ......have anybody else noticed these things ............................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ............... . .
  10. ....Thanx for the info Iansav ........ as the BW can read Ntfs do you think that a partitioned ext usb Hd In the 2 formats fat 32 & ntfs would be recognised by the BW because when I'm playing multiple Vobs from dvd's in fat 32 it stops for a second or so to read the next multiple vob from the dvd in fat 32 ..... Now I can make a single Large vob from the dvd but they are normally over 4Gig & fat 32 can't handle this (I can also compress the Large single dvd Vob to under the 4Gig limit but I would prefer a 1 to 1 copy) ...thats why I want to go ntfs for read only & Dvd playBack But keep fat 32 for file transfers from the bw .......do you think that would work ..so if the pc is networked to the bw via cat' I can't write to the ntfs partition on the ext usb on the BW from the Pc in Ntfs to download the large vob ( over 4Gig).....as it's not a NAS....Is that correct --there goes that idea bugger-- ......I'm very new to all of this .......Thanx for your help ....................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ..
  11. .....I'm a new Dpp1 user & I have some questions..... .......As fat 32 has a size limit of 4gig can I partition my ext usb drive using both fat 32 & Ntfs & connect it to the dpp1...so allowing the dpp1 to write to the fat 32 & read large vobs (dvd's) from the Ntfs on the external usb drive perhaps showing it as 2 usb devices.... .......can I write to the Ntfs partion from a networked Pc using ethernet & approx what write speed will I see ..... ..thanx in advance.... ..................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- .......... . .
  12. ........I look at external sources plugged into the Mtv 'E to E' so when looking at the stb in my case via component I select YUV on the Mtv's input selector so you should never have to change cables again.... ..............& this works well for me I hope that's helped............ ......................... --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ................ . .
  13. ......I also recommend looking at an sd pvr...even connected via a minimum of s-video as a good alternative to a hd stb
  14. ....well the timer went off & the audio was a little distorted on the recording... ( ie the usual fault & being a community tv station who knows they may of been pushing out low audio any way but this distortion can happen @ turn on with the normal commercial stations) ...until the first commercial break about 10 mins in & then the fault disappeared.....I'm thinking that there was louder audio during the adds & this bought the 'A' to 'D' audio converter back into line ....Has any body else noticed this.... .....mmmm bugger ...........thank god I use the sd-stb most of the time thru the Aux input for recording using simultaneous timers: ............... Kim ......... . .
  15. .....I also quiet like this unit @ $299 as I'm not using the analogue tuner & thought I was going mad as well .........let's hope the 2 piece ferris noise suppressor on the power cable from jaycar will help the very slight video noise on recordings.. ....& the dvd produces very nice play back from hired movies & the dl burner is a big bonus ....But from memory I think I'm using interlaced in it's video menu & still see the occasional audio distortion on the analogue tuner .... ..... my partner has now asked me to record a weekly pgm on the local analogue community bris 31 tv so it will be interesting to see what happens this Saturday........ .....re-- the audio..... ...But as the unit actually turns on 5 min's before the recording time set in its menu I'm hoping that this will stabilise the audio before the timer begins recording ... ....here's hoping ....I'll post my results.... ............. Kim .......... .. .
  16. .....I tried them all & they all show the same fault but at the moment I'm only using the optical ...... Kim  . .
  17. .....yes it's all a bit confusion really but all the audio from my recordings from the stb & the mtv over the last month have been good....so that's fixed the prob...now my guess is the a to d converter needs a high signal to work....as my other post suggests ....also the audio out is high on the mtv & I run it @ 50% but only after I've confirmed that there is no distortion as I'm not sure that say setting a lower volume (50%) @ turn on from the mtv may also effect this fault....but as I say runnning the mtv at @100% initally & then turnning it down does work for me.... ........................ --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ................. .
  18. mmmm......scratchy audio I've noticed this as well & also returned my recorder but the new one also has the same problem so we've both been down the same path & yes it does go away if you cycle thru the channels......I record mainly from a stb via component & the volume of line outputs of my sd stb is variable & not fixed as is the norm with other audio components with their fixed line out's... ........ so my fix was to raise the volume of the output of the stb & this has fixed the problem ( when I was first using this combo the volume from the stb was too low & the mtv would always produce audio distortion ee to ee or on the recording) .... also if I notice distortion on the mtv's analogue tuner as I do occasionally @ turn on I then cycle thru the aux input of the higher level audio from stb & this always fixes the analogue audio from the mtv's tuner....not that I use the mtv's tuner very often ...... on my next days off I intend to buy a 2 piece ferris noise suppressor from jaycar that you clip over the power lead to try to minimise the small amount of video noise that I get in the recordings & I will post my results ......hope that's helped ........................ --ThisIsAllToMuchFun-- ................. ..
