  1. guys who have a V300 servies Bravia .... do any of you notice the picture losing colour and contrast when you move off centre with your viewing angle? Mine (40") seems to start fading a bit as soon as I get around to about 45 degrees from viewing front-on. I thought this set was meant to have "178 degree" viewing angle? This happens with TV, DVD and in bright and dark light. I thougth there was somethign wrong with my panel so I took it back to the store and swapped it for another one but the new one does it too.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. What worries me most is that I've been to a few shops and looked at the same TV as mine and I dont see this problem at all in the shop. I wondered if they have them set up in a certain way (eg. contrast and backlight up to max) to avoid problems with viewing angles, so I set my mine to vivid, high contrast etc but I still get this faded look. It happens at night in a darkened room as well as in daylight so its not effected by light. My lounge is set up with a sofa about 3 metres in front of the TV with another sofa at right angles to it, in an L shape. People sitting on the other sofa can see this faded effect - they would be about 2.5 metres from the screen and at about 45 degrees angle. Am I expecting too much OR is there a chance there is something wrong with the new TV?
  3. I just bought a Sony Bravia KLV 40V300A 40 inch LCD Sony claims a 178 degree clear picture with this model. I've noticed that the picture starts to degrade (loses contrast and colour and gets washed out) from about 130 degrees. Can anyone else comment on their experience with Bravias and viewing angles? I'm wondering if there is something wrong with mine? Is there any kind of fault that would cause this? Are there any settings that would cause or fix it?
  4. I just bought one of these Tv's (KLV 40V300a) and have been experimenting with settings too. DVDs seem easier to set up for than standard TV channels. I've been quite disappointed with the picture qaulity when viewing from the side. I find that from about 135 degrees from centre, the picture starts to fade and get washed out. Does anyone else find that? I wasn't expecting that to happen until about 160 or 170 degrees.
  5. Can someone explain about the 50 Hz judder that was mentioned in a previous post? How many hz is best? Which brands have the right number of hz?
  6. I'm looking at a Philips or the Panasonic. Can you tell me which model Philips you're looking at?
  7. Hi, yes, I'm suffering the same sickness as you. I've read all the forums, bought all the magazines, visited all the websites, been to all the stores ... and I'm no closer to making a decision that when I started. There seems to be a fault or dilema of some kind with every model I look at: eg silver instead of black, built in HD tuner or not, 1 year warranty or 3 (Philips) We need a support group to take care of us.
  8. I'm thinking of buying this LG 42PX5D plasma. Can you guys who have them please give me any comments on its good and bad points? One review I read said it had a noisy buzz or fan noise. Is this right? Do all plasmas buzz? Many thanks.
  9. I read a few reports of the LG 42PX5D being noisy. A buzz or a fan noise? I don't own a Plasma yet, but I've been thinking of this LG. Can someone tell me if this noise from the LGs is common? is it common in all plasmas? What causes it? Do all plasmas have a fan? Thanks.
