  1. Speaking of LSK has anyone had any experience with their DIY kits, are they any good?
  2. Perfect, just what I was looking for.... ta Gordon
  3. I reakon getting my rosewood speakers to piano black is going to take a fair amount of paint, anyone ever tried this or can recommend someone who would do it well??? I'm in Perth so locally would be good
  4. A piano black Plus 2 is on its way to me as we speak looking forward to it should be arriving any day now
  5. Yeah talk about a tough decision... lucky there is another fridge =P Cheers Wacko =)
  6. Thanks all after getting home and reading this then checking 2 fridges I figured out its a bar fridge doing it, and it goes on and off all the time... Feel alot better now =)
  7. Yeah all sources unfortunately =/ I'm thinking the only way to eliminate this is by trial and error, get a decent ups and connect up components individually starting with the receiver
  8. Not that I know of, its hard to tell theres nothing in this room anyway... Would it help if I tried a UPS and run the amp from that? I figure that would better islotate than the belkin power board
  9. Ah yeah that might have helped its a pioneer AX2
  10. I am trying to figure out what is causing my speakers to make loud what sound like static pops every so often, and its not just when I turn a component on or use the remote (as I know that can cause anyway) I'm guessing its either the receiver or some problem with power in the circuit... I am using one of the belkin pureav isolators but everything is on the one board and I'm not sure how good of an isolator this thing really is... Anyone got any ideas I might have overlooked? as i said I'm thinking its the receiver but I'm not too sure MJ
  11. I have this setup but both subs aren't really used in the same way, the two subs are an SVS PB12 Plus/2 and a Klipsch RW-10 The SVS is hooked up via the LFE connecteor on my receiver and the Klipsch runs off the front speaker level inputs, works very well because my fronts (Mission M53's) have small drivers with basically no bass, I keep the Klipsch crossover at 100Hz so they basically produce everything below the missions range, ends up meaning the system sounds awesome for both music and movies... I think your situation is slightly different but in this way, 2 subs are great =) MJ
  12. I can't even find my remote since I've been using the Harmony 880 is there actually a option for HDMI/optical audio, or shoult it just be automatic?
  13. I have the DTR7200 and I had it hooked up via component/optical i just changed it over to HDMI and I can't get any audio through HDMI! although on channel 9 for some reason I occasionaly get a few seconds of sound, I can still get sound through optical or analouge though... very weird, maybe theres some setting I've overlooked but I can't find one...
  14. No probs with lipsync for me! from memory I paid ~$600 for the Marantz... expensive but worth every penny! and yeah its running over HDMI Yeah good choice andrew =P
  15. The PQ is awesome with the Marantz, thats why I originally brought it, much better than anything from the xbox (DVD anyyway) and the blacks are really nice and deep like I said before similar to the panasoniss I've seen... MJ
  16. I've got a Marantz DV6600 (upscaling DVD player) via HDMI Also a Pioneer AX2 receiver running Mission M5 series speakers (the old english made ones...) =) and for HDTV I've got the Phillips DTR7200 also connected via HDMI MJ
  17. I finally found a sub matching the system but ever since I've hooked it up every so often (15 mins or so) I hear static type pops coming through all the rest of the speakers, I'm wondering how this could happen tho? The sub is obviously active and I haven't changed anything else since... weird, guess I'll take the sub back tommorow and see if it happens with a different sub... MJ
  18. I have the xbox hooked up via component (still waiting for the xbox HDMI pack =]) As for the MR box I have not noticed any noise as of yet... even with just the TV and the MR Box on I can barely hear the fan right next to it, lets hope this doesn't change... Speaking of noise I have been running the Pio at 100Hz and the buzz off the Plasma itself is very low alot less than I have heard from some panels, although I can't notice a difference between 100 and 75Hz anyway So far I'm very happy with the Pio =) You make a good point, more so, if this was indeed required you would think this would be done in the factory before sending the panels out? Either way I'm not 100% so I figure it can't hurt to sacrifice brightness/contrast for a couple of weeks... MJ
  19. In Retravision Joondalup (Perth) I've got a mate who works there and he did us a good price on the M5's (although he didn't have the M5AS 350W sub so I am still searching for one of them). I love the sound of these speakers, such good detail and warm sound.. although the bass is really none existant without the sub. They do claim to be made in england on the back of the speakers, I'm wondering if they all do or the new ones say china/malaysia? MJ
  20. My opinion so far is this is the best plasma I have seen, the colours are very natural, on some LCD's/Plasma's I have noticed when you saturate the colours alot everything starts to look really unnatural, but not with the Pio. The blacks are very deep, to me equally as good as the Pana's and far better than the last PDP435 was it? As for contrast its very good in dark scenes (perhaps not so good as the Pana but very good) I want to test the King Kong DVD for this at some point... Even the speakers are great for TV speakers, although I removed them because I think the panel looks better without them... but they are by no means ugly, but without the speakers the thin bezel makes for a beautiful TV. I have noticed that when fed a interlaced signal (I have only tested it with a DVD through my xbox360) there is some noticeable judder, but when I hooked up my Marantz DV6600 upscaling to 720p its hardly noticeable... The Xbox 360 is very impressive on the Pio, smooth crystal clear images in hi def games and no motion blur whatsoever, which is to expected... but I am cautious at the moment with ever leaving static images on the screen (I won't even watch DVD's with the bars, for now anyway) The only thing I could really fault it on is one HDMI port, what is with TV manufacuters and single HDMI slots, do they just want to sell recievers? So far I'm up to 65hrs and counting... haven't seen any noticeable retention yet, then I do have the contrast and brightness set quite low... MJ
  21. Good to hear I guess when you hear made in china you assume bad quality... perhaps its not always the case... I was really impressed by the detail when i heard the M53's and thats what has led me to lean towards them. Interesting you say that about the 2600, I have heard similar reports but never really noticed it myself. I did like the Pioneer I heard the Mission's through... guess I'll have to have a good listen to both. Have you found the MCACC useful? Yeah the HDMI switching is all I'd use anyway I have the Marantz DV6600 for DVD up scaling I'm yet to see a reciever that really good upscaling and the Marantz puts it to shame... Thanks for the reply ajm
  22. Hey guys, recently auditioned these speakers and loved the sound, the setup was the M53's, M5C, M5AS and instead of the diploes for surround (I thought they lacked alot) I was planning to get the M5 bookshelves as rears... they were all running through a Pioneer amp I can't remeber the model exactly but it retailed for 1899 and had HDMI switching/upscaling, I was howevefr planning to run them on a Yamaha RXV2600 now for the question.... I have heard mission was recently sold and all their speakers are coming out of china, are these speakers a product of that? or is it just the newer lines, M5i etc... Either way they sounded really warm and clean to me, the M53's perhaps lacked a tiny bit of bass but the sub more than makes up for that, my main concern with the chinese manufacturing is the longevity... Does anyone know for sure where these came from?
  23. Just got one of these today... I'm new to plasmas so I'm wondering about breaking it in, is there anything in paticular I should do? so far I've set it to power save 2 to lower the brightness a bit but what else? Also anyone got good settings to share?
  24. Can anyone comment on the "game mode" setting, is there noticebly less latency? (Compared to the Milano)
  25. From what I have been reading it is possible to disable DNIe through the service menu on this LCD, does anyone know how to get into the service menu? I have tried the methods for a few different models I have found but none work.... Am I correct in assuming that DNIe is disabled over VGA?
