  1. by the time this is even close to happening you will be needing another TV as your new one will be so old and worn.
  2. Hi, I am after a s cheapy HTinBox style dvd player and have come across a Yamaha DVX-301 (i think) and on sale cheap as it is an old model. I had a Sony DAVs htib and suited us fine except it didn't play recorded disks , payed about $1400 and later $280 for a new laser, the eject is broken now so time for a replacement. I bought a philips one a few weeks back but returned it after two weeks - shocking quality and poor ability to read any disks. I friend has said that he has had three Yamaha dvd players and all have failed just after warranty - has any one had this happen to them. Are Yamaha as a brand OK, they used to be years ago. cheers, - GoldCoaster
  3. thanks guys. i just saw it on the weekend and have read posts about cheap units being noisy plus I remember, years back, plasmas at $19,000 with noisy fans. - goldcoaster
  4. can any one tell me how noisy the fan is that is bolted on the back of the unit? I don't like the idea of a fan because of noise and you can't tell in a store like Myer how loud it is.
  5. I agree. you would think it would have to reduce the operating life. people come back from the beach... no TV sorry, it's too hot It is not just Summer, how many have a heater on in Winter. the AC set for 23c Heat is only 7c from the max for Sony! That would surely take years off the life of the TV.
  6. lg (I think or maybe samsung) have a home theatre in box solution that has a DVD recorder. would this be suitable for you? - Goldcoaster
  7. to design something that only has a max of 30c is pretty poor isn't it. I am guessing that, in Australia, the lifetime of these sets will be pretty short! (but probably just outside the warranty!) what life would people expect - 10 years for a CRT so should we expect the same for LCD? - GoldCoaster
  8. other tv model just had the analogue tuner for an output . there was no output of HD tuner. the EX75 will be like a modern replacement of a VCR. you can record a channel while watching something else. - GoldCoaster
  9. I know the PC way but thats not what I meant. thanks anyway. I just thought that maybe it would be good if your kids play a few DVDs over and over you could put them on the HDD to play rather than loading a DVD each time. Can you put non-protected DVds onto the HDD? - GoldCoaster
  10. gee, $650 is a good price. the prices have been dropping pretty quickly, haven't they? - Goldcoaster
  11. does this mean it would be fine as a mp4 on a video ipod? - Goldcoaster How does this work. Does Panasonic pay the Studios to send their updates. Does this mean that in the future they can automatically send an update to block copying TV shows? - Goldcoaster
  12. Not with the AC on but temps are measured in the shade not in the sunshine so when the weather says its 30c it is 30 in the shade! - Goldcoaster
  13. the dgtec model can play divx from its usb port, so maybe from the HDD as well. - Goldcoaster
  14. I didn't think so, but then I thought that maybe you could put one just onto the HDD but not be able to trasfer from the HDD to disk. thanks - Goldcoaster
  15. but would it give you bad pic quality still, does it really matter? which units do you mean? - Goldcoaster
  16. you can bargain but no company ever advertises apple stuff cheaper than say $1 less than the full price. - Goldcoaster google doesn't come up with a shop called mac online but I am guessing plus postage will be at least the $299. no one gives discounts for them. - Goldcoaster
  17. These new Panasonoc ex75 recorders look great and just what I want. A question, are you able to put in a DVD movie or a DVD you have made and copy these to the HDD? Can you then put them back onto a new disk? Just wondering, it sound like a way to illegally copy movies so I wondered if you could. - Goldcoaster
  18. I realise one is a new model. I am wondering what the difference is? Is the new model better (not always true)? The ex75 would be for recording as a VCR replacement, not for a set-top box. - goldcoaster
  19. Can someone explain to me the differences between these Tvs please. Panasonic has a new Tv out Viera TX-32LXD600A 32 inch (80cm) LCD IDTV (HD) [Model No: TX-32LXD600A] and still have the 32inch/81cm LCD TV with HD Tuner Integrated [Model No: TX-32LWD500A]. Both are on their web site - which is better, whats the difference (apart from price) What would be better with the new DVD recorder (ex75)? thanks. edit: i notice the new one says Max operating temp 35c - that means no TV during summer in Australia! - goldcoaster
  20. where is the details about the rebate. please. - goldcoaster
  21. $670! - that must mean the DGtek will come down a lot in price. - goldcoaster
  22. what does the 'part of a pana deal' mean please? - goldcoaster
  23. Thats a pity. The DGtec has already been under $600 - Clive Peters catalogue on the gold coast had them for $599 a month ago - that was before they had competition. - GoldCoaster
