  1. After telling the sales guy at Retravision AUBURN, people were getting these for $450 from this forum, he asked his boss and agreed he'd do it for that price. They have both black and silver in stock. They also have the SONY HD PVR 160GB version for $999.
  2. Hey Peter can you tell me WHERE I can get one for $450?!! By the email Topfield sent me a couple of weeks ago, they siad it wasn't due until the first week of May. (Well, tomorrow)
  3. I also got the email from Topfield Aust saying the unit will be released first week in May. Was looking at the Dick Smith site: www.dse.com.au and funnily enough they have taken off the Toppy HD tuner (which they said was out of stock)
  4. hi, just wondering how do you check which firmware version you have on this model?
  5. "The TF7000HT will be available in store from the first week of April." April 2007 more like it ...
  6. Hi, I'm looking for the best dvd player using component connections for my 50" Pana HD Plasma. (which only has one HDMI port) I'm going to be using the HDMI port for the set top box and will only be using the DVD player around 20% of the time compared to free to air. I am considering the Denon 1720 (or 1710), the Pio 686A or Yamaha DVD-S657B, but am open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  7. Bought the 50 inch on the weekend at the Myer big brand sale (10% off) and applied for the source card for an extra 10%. A couple of weeks ago they misquoted me the price for extended warranty and they honoured it when I purchased the panel. In the end I paid $4304.19 for the panel and $479.00 for the warranty. Pretty happy with the price I paid for a 50". Looking to hook up the Toppy HD set top box (via HDMI) and a Denon 1720 DVD player (via Component). I will tell you all how I go when its all hooked up.
  8. I went to Myer Chatswood today to finally decide between a 43" Pioneer PDP436HD and a 50" PV500. After looking at the burn in from the 'Madagascar' DVD menu on the Pioneer, it was a fairly simple choice after hearing about burn in issues with Pioneer panels from this forum and this one at Myer just made my decision to buy the Pana much easier.
  9. Hi John, why is it so important to get a model manufactured in 2006?
  10. Quoted $4839.19 on the weekend at MYER on MYERSource card for the 50" including delivery and 3 year warranty
  11. hi everyone, went shopping for the best price on interest free and found the Panasonic TH-50PV500A - (50") $5000. ($1000 deposit - no extended warranty). Does this sound about right or should I push for more?
  12. been thinking about the 37" BenQ for my parents house. I can get this for under $3000 or should I wait for the 42" BenQ? (or how about 46" due next year!)
  13. Went to JB Hi-Fi Chatswood last night and Retravision World Square in Sydney a couple of days ago and the first thing they asked after I told them about the lowest I've heard was around $3500, 'what is wrong with the unit?' The lowest Retrovision said they could go was $3900 and JB Hi-Fi dont want to know me.
  14. I thought that it already comes with stand included or is the one included not a swivel one?
  15. Was quoted $4150 from Goodguys Rockdale tonight. I think I could of pushed it another $50 but no more. Once I find one for under 4K, I'm buying!
  16. Hey I'd like to know where you can get one for $2600! Are you sure its not the 42 inch model you're talking about?
  17. According to the HOTCHIP instructions, if I use component connections I will be able to get 576p or 720p, but everytime I press to change the setting (either by remote or by menu), I get no/hardly any pictures. It only works with the PAL setting. Does that mean I'm not getting the best picture/progressive scan? I have it plugged directly to a Benq PE7800 and am using good quality cables. Any help is mucho appreciated!
  18. Hey, does Aaron do projectors as well as plasma? approx how much does it cost to do? (basic system/per hour?) (Thought I'd ask here before emailing him directly)
  19. Hey, well after looking at DLPs for a fair while, I've moved the goal posts to a HD plasma screen. (The new Samsung can be/will be under$4000). The idea of changing expensive light bulbs, reliability issues, brightness, angle of viewing and design has swayed my goals to a Plasma as well.
  20. The LG uses a HD3 chip... http://au.lge.com/md/product/prodcategoryl...tId=1100000633# Model : 52SZ8R 52" DLP Rear Projection TV DLP Type(HD3 720P) Version Up XD Engine Contrast 1000 : 1 12W x 2 (2 Way 6 Speakers) Dolby Virtual Surround 2 Tuner PIP Diverse Interface DVI Progressive Scan Digital Comb Filter Flicker Free All Format-up Converter Sound Output: 20W x 2(SRS) Teletext HDMI/Component(2) / RGB / AV / S-Video Input Component 2ea, AV etc Having said that I would still go the Samsung if I was to buy DLP purely based on the fact that there have been so many reported problems with the LG rear pros. Hope this helps
  21. thanks mcphee, what are your thoughts on this panel after using it?
  22. Hello, Surfing around it seems the best price I can get the PS42P4H for is $3995. Just wondering: 1) Has anyone bought one for cheaper? 2) What are your thoughts on this screen for those who have seen/own it? Thanks in advance for the replies.
