  1. G'day, I'm new to Tube Amps, but feel like its time to have a play Probably look for an integrated amp Wide range of music styles & several speaker options but looking for a good match with my vintage Tannoy Chatsworth's Preference to buy Australian & buy new, but happy to receive suggestions of vintage & second hand. What would you recommend & why ?

  4. Further Information: One of Nakamichi’s classic cassette deck Every stereo needs a high quality tape deck, and this is certainly high quality Working beautifully, I’ve had it about 6 months, previous owner said it had been pretty much in storage for 20+ years The sound quality is phenomenal. Happy to demo https://www.cassettedeck.org/nakamichi/580m
  5. G’day I picked up some Whatmough P20 speakers, (like I need more speakers !!!) but the internet is not giving me much in terms of reviews or specs. I’m guessing circa 2000 ?? 2 way version of P30 ? Can anyone help out with details / reviews / brochures ??
  6. Yamaha A-S1000 Hifi Amplifier The amp was extremely well cared for and is in perfect condition from a smoke free home. A few years ago Yamaha took a superior approach to an analogue amplifier design and this high performance amplifier inherits the high sound quality design of the A-S2000 which is a bonus at this price range. The amp has simple controls with plenty of analogue inputs including a phono input, headphone out and dual speaker terminals (A & which can be used for bi-amp operation. The amp is very well built and really heavy - 22kg! More information for the stereo amp can be found here: https://www.excelia-hifi.cz/yamaha/data/yamaha-a-s1000.pdf https://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/hifi/a-s1000/index.html Brilliant, powerful sound, will happily drive the most demanding speakers with ease. Beautiful black with dark brown timber sides, including remote & manual Happily demo for serious buyers Pickup 3084
  7. Further Information: SMSL DA-9 Amplifier + SMSL SU-9 DAC Including a high quality XLR cable for connection between units This has been my main stereo 2.1 system for last 12 months or so, easily powering any speaker I threw at them, all inputs tested & working flawlessly Don’t really want to seperate these two as they are so beautifully matched, so price is for both units. Specs here DA-9 https://www.smsl-audio.com/portal/product/detail/id/726.html SU-9 https://www.smsl-audio.com/portal/product/detail/id/722.html A quick Google search will show excellent reviews, here are a few https://www.headphonesty.com/2021/04/review-smsl-su-9/ https://iiwireviews.com/smsl-da-9-review-best-value-on-the-market/ Bluetooth, Balanced, MQA, USB, Optical, Subwoofer out. Great set of features, includes both remotes & manuals & Bluetooth antenna as per pic Pickup from 3084 Happy to demo for serious buyers
  8. Further Information: A bit of a collectors item I reckon. Shahinian speakers made in New York, have quite a reputation, these are probably 80’s vintage. I wasn’t sure which model, so I tracked down the company & confirmed as Elf’s. Shahinian Elf Bookshelf speakers, Perfect size for an actual bookshelf. Note the little switch at the rear near the posts, cool little feature. Excellent condition, including grills and magnificent sounding, 31cm tall, nice timber cabinets. Happy to demo on pickup. Located 3084
  9. Further Information: **** Reduced Price **** Selling a pair of Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand floor standing speakers in a magnificent Rosewood finish. They are in as fantastic condition, and sound amazing. The speakers are manufactured in Vienna and perform at a very high level. Sensitivity of 91db and impedance of 4 ohms make the Beethoven's an easy load for most amplifiers. More info here http://www.vienna-acoustics.com/ This model is discontinued and replaced by the new Beethoven Reference which sells for 17k a pair. For classical, jazz, vocal and instrumental, listening to these speakers is a real treat. The clarity and soundstage is unbelievable. As per photos, just a fine mark on the rear edge of one speaker, other than that they are immaculate. I’ve put small rubber caps on the spikes, because I had them on a timber floor. Selling to fund some new bookshelf speakers Happy to demo for serious buyers. Pickup from 3084
  10. Further Information: These speakers are a bit special. Without a doubt they are the best sounding speakers I’ve ever heard, but sadly I just don’t have the space for them, I’ve had them in my garage, because I’m not allowed to have them in the house !!!! so time to pass them on to someone else to appreciate. These speakers were hand built in late 1990’s. Australian builder only built three of these. Apparently about 4k in parts and 4months to make All the drivers are Dynaudio, woofers are 17W75Xl, tweeters are 28mm Esotech Cabinets are lead lined solid Jarrah External hand wound inductive crossovers I don’t have any other details, but when you hear them, they speak for themselves. You won’t be needing a subwoofer with these speakers ! But such detailed mids and highs too. Happy to demo for serious buyers. Thread here with more pics, when I first discovered them Warning these speakers are large (160cm high) and very very heavy. Buyer will need vehicle with enough space & I’d suggest two people to help move. Pickup from 3084
  11. Getting back into hifi, loving the ability to source cheap 2nd hand quality items and mix & match
  12. Great suggestions on the Plinius & Exposure, will look 2nd hand, would be a little over the top to spend 2k on a $200 pair of speakers
  13. Yep, pretty sensitive so fully agree not a taxing load for an amp, would that also bring into the picture a cheap D class or valve amp ?
  14. G'day, I picked some some Castle Acoustics Stirling speakers, complete with really nice matching stands. Drivers are in great condition for the age 1989 ? and they sound fantastic, so I'm looking at restoring the cabinets. I've not been able to source a whole lot of info on the model given the Internet was not quite the source it is today. So far I've got the following information. This was top of the line in 1989, retailing for $1100USD/pair. Bass reflex, 2 - 6" woofs, 1" dome tweet, freq resp 48 - 22, spl 89 db, 8/6 ohm impedence, wood veneeer finish. So really keen to hear from any other owners and especially on what type of amp would be a good match, currently running a yamaha a-s1000
  15. Nice speakers, why are you selling & what amp were you using with them ?
  16. Did you buy them in Aus or UK ? Can you remember what they retailed for ?

  19. wow just wow I’m not super experienced, but I’ve never heard anything like these speakers before. Definitely no sub required. Spent a few hours today, just pulling out fav CD’s and discovering sounds in favourite tracks I’ve never heard before !!! Amazing vocals and beautiful midrange. But my goodness they are big & heavy, have to think seriously about where I could put them & lobby dear wife to keep ‘em. Super happy to get in contact with creator
  20. Thanks heaps for putting me in touch with the designer. Only 3 pairs made Woofers are Dynaudio 17W75XL 8 ohm in parallel = 4 ohms Tweeters are Dynaudio 28mm Esotech that are mofified in their throat. Cabinets are lead lined, solid Jarrah Can’t wait to actually hear them
