  1. Hi guys, I am looking to upgrade my receiver to something bi-amp capable but also want a powered second zone (no preamp) is there such a thing? I noticed that the Onkyo receivers use the same terminals for zone 2 as they do for bi amping. anyone have any tips or know of a receiver that will do this? thanks!
  2. Hi, I'm in Adelaide and am just interested in a pair of Neuphonix at this stage. Can someone please PM me the price in Atlantic Jarrah. I think I should have enough posts to qualify. thanks! Edited: WOW! I didn't realize I had 60 posts already! Have never taken much notice! HA!
  3. Excellent resolution achieved Mr Kogan. This thread has been an interesting read. I'm glad you realize that you're better off not dealing with people like Chev. Like yourself I can't believe that his original help request featured a threat, and then dares to suggest he hasn't heard from you when he has been discussing it with you on the forum. Everyone here should give you a pat on the back for even responding to this guy. It sounds like Chev has unfortunately received a tv that is having problems, but I believe that Chev went about getting the issue resolved in a childish 'wanker' fashion, and from what we have seen on the forum Mr Kogan has clearly made an effort to find out what the problem is so that he can assess whether or not it's user error or if indeed a replacement is required. I have no desire to make a Kogan purchase as I much prefer name brands etc. But I can't see a major problem with what you're doing. Well done Kogan.
  4. You're both dreaming if you think shadow detail and black levels are better on a projection based technology than a plasma. The SXRDs have a great picture, I've even seen the picture on the 50 at a Circuit City in Vegas about 9 months ago. ESPN HD was on and it was a College Football game and it just went to show how much better their broadcast quality is especially where sport is concerned. However if you ever watch a movie at night you will see that the black levels are miles off what a plasma can produce. LCD and LCD based products look great in a shop as it is extremely bright, however get it home and turn the lights off and you'll beg for a plasma.
  5. Why would you want a rear pro anyway? Get a 1080p 50" plasma later this year when the Pana comes out. Then you'll get a tv much closer to your precious CRT. If you are such a CRT lover I'm surprised you're even considering rear pro. Have you decided that you don't like black definition anymore?
  6. Far out! How much cheaper does it have to be? I mean really? You can buy any TV you want these days for only a few weeks pay! Just buy the bloody thing and catch the footy finals and Bathurst!
  7. they have a 3 yr manufacturers warranty so it would have to be under warranty even without a receipt.
  8. Maybe you've not plugged the cable in all the way on each end? Maybe the DVD recorder is turned off? Sounds lke maybe you need to suss out HDAVI settings with both the recorder and the tv. OR if that's too hard. Call the store and ask them to recommend someone to plug it all in for you. Might only cost 60 bucks. Then at least you'll be off the hook with your wife.
  9. Can somebody explain what leverage difference a customer has when they have paid in full versus a 10% deposit? The tv isn't coming any sooner. Oh Clueless, you really are just that. I loved "Quote "They knew he would go elsewhere if there was a delay, so they were not honest about that - with computer systems these days there is no excuse for not knowing where the stock is. That is business." How do you know that he was going to look elsewhere and that they lied to him to wrongfully steal cash from his pocket. And nobody said they don't know where the tv's are, the knowledge would be readily available. The stock is just delayed. DEAL WITH IT! I can't believe you lot. NOW NOW NOW!!!!!!! I want it NOW!!!! I can't wait another second!!! DO you have any idea who I am? etc..... Just relax and do something constructive while you wait for your tv, like read a book or something.
  10. Have no fear. I use my Panasonic Plasma (6th gen) as my computer moniter and have NEVER seen even subtle image retention let alone burn in. As a precaution however I would recommend pressing the 'BACK' button on your foxtel digital remote when the press red for active thing is on the screen and that will disappear. The other logos and watermarks are all rather harmless. Enjoy your new tv.
  11. You've probably not selected the correct HDMI input on the tv. There are 2. Try again.
  12. How much he put down as a deposit is irrelavant. 10% or 100% if there's no stock there's no stock. Sounds like the salesman was good enough to at least call the customer when he heard there would be delays. As Christopher MJT said, I agree the customer should be more understanding. Oh, I recommend the Toshiba DLP's if you're looking at going DLP. They are the leaders when it comes to that technology.
  13. Make sure the Blue of the Component cable is plugged in. Picture will be pink otherwise. That is the only reason your TV will be excessively pink unless the appliance on the other end is faulty.
  14. Sounds like you've read some but not enough of the LG manual. Everything sounds like it is plugged in correctly, you just need to tune the box. The box must scan for stations otherwise you'll get nothing.
  15. Just quickly, ANGELO, HOW have you had so many different tv's and stb's? have you been a very picky pest at your local store? or do you still have most of those things? It is quite unbelievable.
  16. Oh I see, because the BenQ DV3750 has a 1920 x 1080 res it has a better picture than your Bravia... I get it now. Res is the only important thing in picture quality.... More pixels = Better picture (directly proportional) The penny has dropped.
  17. Surely the disgruntled buyer has bid 605 6 seconds from auction close time and then bidding has ended, hence no more bids will be accepted, however the winning bidder had already bid higher and their autobid was only processed as soon as it could be, in this case a minute and a half after the auction had ended. In this time the losing bidders will have been sent emails saying they have been outbid and they havent won, and the winner will have been sent an email saying congratulations. Unfortunately it seems that you haven't bid enough to win the item. I personally always use the autobid feature as I can decide before bidding at all just how much I am prepared to bid. And even if someone bids close to the closing time it's gonna be up to them to try and beat me. What was it anyway? Oh and the time you'll spend fighting eBay will be a waste of time.
  18. I have been using a 6th gen Pana Hi def (1 model before the first Viera) as my computer monitor for almost 2 years now and have never ever seen burn in. I have NO IDEA how you could get burn in unless you paused something really bright on the screen for a few days. Was worried for the first week or so but soon realised there was nothing to worry about. Can't really comment on LG's etc though. But my PANA is the bomb. Oh but the Blacks in a dark room on my SONY Grand Wega 42 are dismal compared to Plasma. Couldn't have a plasma in that room though. Too much sun during the day.
  19. Which Harvey's Store was it? What state are you in? Oh and surely you were aware that both panels had HDMI, why ask about HDCP?
  20. I have the previous Grand Wega 42 AND a 42" HD Panasonic Plasma (commercial, being used as my computer monitor for almost 2 years) I mainly watch the Sony, but my ONLY gripe is black levels are poor in dark scenes when the lights are off, but it is in a room with LOTS of incoming light and the plasma couldn't handle that. Grab the rear pro I reckon. The new one looks even better than mine and has HDMI.
  21. 9966 all day long. They use a Samsung Panel but it still looks much better and is better featured. I'd go as far as saying the 7520 is 'awful'.
  22. The Toshiba has 2 HDMIs and has 6 base colour management (for better calibration) AND has a 5 year warranty versus sony's 1. Also features a Japanese panel as opposed to a Korean one. I like the Toshiba.
  23. Your list is very long and demanding and I can see why no player would fit the bill. However the one that fits your criteria best is indeed the Pioneer 330, and I don't see how it could possibly be overpriced at $438. That's great value considering it's longer list of features and inputs. And you'll be glad to know that it does play R1 discs. You just have to turn it off and back on without a disc in it before playing another region. Also, the LG and Philips DO HAVE region free codes available and the Panasonic is multizone right out of the box. I can't think of ANY Dvd player or recorder by a consumer brand that isn't or can't be made region free. Edit: also, RAM or no RAM, you'll rarely use it.
  24. Both have the same panel, but I'd go with the 3RV and then buy an separate HD box cos then you can record from it. Whereas no digital recording is possible from the 4RV. And an HD box still looks noticeably better than an SD one on an SD panel, even though in most cases it shouldn't. Oh and Peter these models have been around for at least 6 months.
  25. The Pioneer has been out for a while. The TOSHIBA HDC-26H is a great box though from what I've seen.
