The bottom of the bottle,
Is always dry.

I went a little further up the Nordost line then you did.
I have changed to the KLEInnovation cables ans I am very happy.

I have the Donizetti mk2 and it just does everything very well. Love it.

^ lovely balance Matt, @125dbmonster ...except...maybe your listening chair, which could be a little overwhelmed by everything else.

Regardless of cost a good system is a good system.
The room influences how that good system sounds more than anything. But just because I can't afford a brilliant system I am not going to try and find fault with it.
End game amps, speakers and sources just work. And the sound that they deliver can be confronting. And because it costs a lot doesn't necessarily mean it is not balanced or perform at a level that I can't appreciate...it's more likely I just can't afford it.
Every little improvement I have made in my system has been based on somethingI have heard, something I can afford and something that makes the sound more real, more identifiable to me and hopefully towards a balance and synergy that just makes me smile.
Enjoy the journey

And I'm lonesome cause I drink...

Guys, interesting because in my system, I have found IC's make a slight difference so my OCD decideds that, power cables make bugger all if any difference but speaker cables are a significant tuning tool.
I have found similar regarding power associated upgrades Darren. I spent too much money on different additions at the start of tuning my system and most of those have now been removed now.
Interconnects and speaker cables have been the main evolution and it has been a gradual progression. I think those small incremental changes lately have been probably made possible by changing amplifiers along the way.

I have mentioned the success I have been having with the KLEI range of cables.
I have the just released zPurity8 SC's in now and are my favourite and end game speaker cables.
I am also running quite a few of the interconnects with my Conrad Johnson ET5 as can be seen below. I have tried most of the Nordost range and other brands, but for resolution and musicality in my system, these are streets ahead.

Here's a view of the side of the speakers.
Now my wife would love these... it wouldn't matter what they sounded like.
Errrr, do they sound OK?

Very nice congrats.
I've bought a bit of gear from David and his prices and service are second to none. He has a level of experience which would be very hard to replace in Brisbane.
Enjoy.

Looks like a part of a Zingali recipe there..??
I would have thought the Topaz would drive both of those, easily.

David Bowie Black Star vinyl has had all sorts of prices. Very high prices on ebay and Discogs, but you can buy it at JB's for less than $50.
But I agree with Cliff, those last sold prices are the most relevant, but still only a guide.
Retail shops buying collections, offer very low prices, for complete collections, considering the sorting, cleaning and stocking they have to do.

So the legs on this model are adjustable and you can place them closer together like in your pics? Rather than at the end as illustrated in the HN pics?

what about @Bris Vegas who shall be 'buried with his Valhallas? No comment yet?
@Mr. 57 whats not to like about a 'firm dose of raised hair'? Hahaaa!
Definitely try before you buy, if you can Darren, had the Valhallas at my place for a week, wasn't the best solution for my system and room.

Yes I agree Mr T.
Once you have settled on components and they are delivering sound quality that you like and you are familiar, than it doesn't hurt anyone to try fine tuning your system with some tweaks.
And that can include cables. And if you hear something that improves the experience for you and you can afford it, go for it.
There has been a steady evolution in my system and cables have been part of it.
Cheers

After trying Nordost speaker cable, Zu Audio speaker cable, I had the KLEI gZero 6 speaker cable in my system and have just upgraded it to the newer version the KLEI gZero 20 SC, very, very happy.

I enjoyed Gotham. River and Jessica Jones still my favourites.
Making a Murderer, was gripping but frustrating, not the film making, the bureaucracies....ahhhhh.

I wonder if my wife would buy this???I will always go hungry for art.
The everyday investment is a calculated (educated) risk but there are occasions when I need to stretch myself beyond my comfort level for arts sake. I've never been disappointed when I've done this.

With all things it is system and room dependant in the end and you listen for balance and synergy.
I went on a bit of an amp hunt and have trialled a lot, SS, valve hybrid and $12000 valve mono blocks and in the end the best sound was from a modest, but well built SS amp. About roughly 1/10 the cost of my DIY speakers.
So there's no rules, go with what you like and what you can afford.
