  2. I tried RaspyFi but found the hardware did support 24/96 or 24/192 kHz playback without skipping and glitches. 16/44 was fine. I have since moved to AP Linux - http://www.ap-linux.com/ - using an old laptop and found it superb. I am however looking forward to trialing Tsunamp when it is released - http://www.tsunamp.com

  7. i had the tech guys come out earlier this week. the software upgrade has merely altered the sync - it's a little better but definitely not 100% on all channels. i've asked them to come out again and that's scheduled for next week there is a marked improvement in quality on my set between the SD and HD broadcasts for 9 and 10. the picture quality is superb and i suffer none of the geometry issues other 16:9 CRTs can have if we are to believe the US LG site at http://tinyurl.com/jzpkg then, this like the 30fs4d, is a native 1080 HD CRT. it's a pity that this information is not able to be verified more easily
  8. thanks for the data sheet - looks as though this monitor will support 50Hz signals. i presume that HDMI also means that it's covered for HCDP i've also read that it lacks 1:1 pixel mapping but this is coming in a firmware fix. my only problem with the screen is it's small size - not quite suitable for living room applications but perfect for bedrooms/multimedia etc
  9. great choice and a real bargain price dm29! as i mentioned earlier, this set will be my fall back if the LG sync problem persists - so pls let us know what you think of the set when you get it home - :
  10. hey ds1974, i have the LG 32fs4d and there is no flicker when viewing HD stations (Chan 10/9) broadcasting at 1080i. the picture quality in all respects is superb as mentioned the ONLY problem i have with this set is the sync issue. we have a techo coming on Monday so will let you know how that all goes. if it is not defintively fixed i will most likely take it back. there is no sync issue with external signals my fall back was/is the Samsung CRT with external HD STB ed: took some stuff out:)
  11. yep, totally crap picture on the LG CRT in store! - it was a funny experience actually. seeing that the picture was crap, because of the ridiculous instore cabling, but knowing that this screen has excellent picture quality - on par with the best digital screens foxtel pics are highly compressed and you will see artifacts on any screen. i have an LG DVD and cabled using component it looks sensational
  12. check out these links in regard to the CRTs from Samsung and LG. the sites say that they both have a native resolution of 1080. the tuners are another matter - CRT technology has come along way and is NOW at it's zenith. i think we can realistically expect all CRT sets to disappear within a year or earlier. this is the best time to get in if you want a smaller screen. prices are dropping quick get your CRT now, wait a few years then get your SED i guess http://tinyurl.com/jzpkg http://tinyurl.com/y9d6ay http://tinyurl.com/y6rcus
  13. hey dm29 i wouldn't discount a CRT option either. i've just purchased a 32" LG 32fs4d for $1150 with 5 year warranty from JB Hi Fi. the picture quality is outstanding - beautifully rich and warm. the set does have a sync issue but we have the tech coming next week. has a HDMI input that future proofs it for HDCP and new HD DVD content coming soon also check, the Samsung CRT. you'll need an external HD STB for that. also has HDMI in http://tinyurl.com/yexgsd http://tinyurl.com/ydbkn4 cheers!
  14. hey John, i'm interested to see how your new TV is going. i'd particularly like to know if you have the sync issues that many are reporting. also, how do you find the picture quality cheers
  15. thanks Tony - yes, good point anyone had experience with the Benq FP241W?? http://benq.com.my/products/LCD/?product=8...wcases|scid|409 supports 1080P and HDMI
  16. just wondering if anyone has experience with 1:1 pixel 1080 pix on computer lcd monitors ? the source would be a conventional HD SetTop Box/ PVR and not a HDTV PC card
