Hi Tilroh This Micro Seiki 505 is a good arm, able to adjust the VTA and also Anti skate on the fly. I had a similar arm as yours. Need to ask you about the anti skate. Do you calibrate whether it is working? I have been using for few years. Only this week, I re-verify to see if the anti skate is working. What a surprised it is not responding. As the grading scale from 0 - 3 gm. Also try adjusting the tracking knob with the Red & Blue indicator ie tightening the spring wire. Hi All, This regarding the cross over capacitors. I have taken the pics showing both having different components (capacitors). I believed it had been changed from previous owner. Need help to suggest what is "best" to have them replace. As stated I have no electronic knowledge, therefore providing the brand and its values would be great. Then I will look for someone to help. Or give a simple block diagram of the circuit by marking which component to change.

Hi Larry Good to hear from you. The X-overs are 35 years old. Don't you think the capacitors are "dried up"? If possible, please take the pictures of the X-overs circuit. I will also take mine for comparison. By then, I need help to show how to attach pictures in the forum. Looking at my X-overs, I think had been reworked. Both unit capacitors doesn't look alike. Hi All, It been a year plus since I started the topic. Before, I proceed please except my sincere apology for not responding. Not to forget Van Der.s cabinets dimensions that had given to me. I was caught in a family business which had made me tight up and nothing turn out fruitful. Finally, decided to wind up and looking forward to retire and full times enjoying music. Well, look like I have to go all over again asking for help. Last week asking around for carpenters. But, none wanted to do it, leaving no choice to do myself. I am trained "mechanically" but not in electronic. Have been reading to gain some knowledge. Had been mention about xx db @ yy hz. It is measurable or by calculation ? davewantsmoore as you quoted; kindly elaborate. Tks I use a steep HPF on mine (-6dB@55hz) .... so box dimensions can remain quite small without that 'choked up sound' Regards

Thank you all. Well the toroidal step down transformer output 3000va , 220 volts to 110 volts made in China had been used for about a month. Touch wood, is running perfect no humming. I noticed its doesn't get warm or heated up after running for 3 hours. Btw will get in touch with "Tortech" for a high grade step down transformer What about the "isolation transformer? Any recommendation? Which is more applicable for high end audio? Cheers

Hi SS, Oh I did put jumper wires. I measure the speaker posts it shown 4.5 ohm. As for the sound, lack of energy. Reference to the piano , do not feel the striking of the keys. One thing I notice, the power amp got heater faster. My normal operate on the 8 ohm Tannoy 12" gold drivers, even for 5 hrs it just feel mild warmth on the amp. But not driving the 5 ohm bookselfs. Within 30 mins I can feel the heating up. It is becos 5 ohm draw higher current? Intend to buy tubes amp (mono blocks) budget withing $1000. It is ok to get vintage tubes amp; eg. Cary audio 2A3 or some reputable amp ( within 15 wattage output) Ofcos should has the variable output resistance. Any suggestions? Which is the better choice, "triode" or "pentode"? I have been reading for infors but not much of understanding due to I know nut about electronics. Need advice, tks. Cheers
