1. Hi Paul, I do have a largish mat already with a full lounge suite. Though it may be that this is not the problem, so I'll have to eliminate the odds, starting with draps, one by one and hope that they don't burn too a big of a hole.
2. Hey Dave_s Hmm your right there. I wonder if the series 2 have the means to fit them?, Or even the i93's for that matter... Or maybe the just know what their on about. But as aeou said, spikes may damage the tiles if i don't find suitable "feet" padding to match. I do still like monaro8s suggestion of using gold....... Do you have any by any chance??? ....
3. You may be right there Vanch, there def. are a few hard surfaces about. I do have a rug though so I will give the drapes a go too I think.
4. Thanks for the tip KJG, anythings worth a try. Though as Monaro8 suggested, gold is the way to go......now where oh where do I find some.... lol
5. Hi keith I do have quite a HF listening enviroment at present, being that the whole house is tiled with quite hollow walling throughout. Well thats what I'm blaming it on, because it could even be the rear firing speakers i own not giving me enough mid to match, or it could be the T series Nad or it could be the clinical, though precise amp blah blah ..... you get the point anyways. As always cheapish simple things to start with, I think are in order. Any ideas?, anything may help....or inspire...
6. Hey Keith. I was just answering Cheekyboys question. Dont worry Cheekyboy. They say here that LPs are the darkside, though let me tell you that 4wding MUST be the darkest of darksides. Once you've been biten it's hard to find a cure. And we all think that HiFi can empty pockets right! Nothing like what offroading CAN end up costing you. But horses for courses right.... Thanks for all the feedback so far gentlemen, muchly appreiciated.
7. Thanks to JA and keith for the advise. I'll stick with the rubber pads for now. Just have to solve the problems of high freq. now... Regarding the coins.... 5c pieces?? Sounds a bit cheap (sic) to me .
8. Keith, 4wding is offroading which is becoming a big thing up here in Qld, quite to the dismay of the local government as they haven't found a way of taxing it........yet. As to the lamps, well they are there for lighting only. In full "ATTACK" mode as shown below they do come down, as I have had one come off completely....doh. Should have added this before....oh well
9. I'm here to ask the members about any experience they have had with tiled floors, as Im sure many here probably have. (For illistration purposes refer to The Showcase section) The advise Im looking for is whether or not I should be running spikes or not. At present I've got largish reinforced rubber pads between the floor and loud speaker which seem to be doing the job. Is this advisable or should I go to the spikes? I have also thought of building a sand filled base (on spikes or not) Is this also advisable? The subs are actually sitting elevated on small anti-scratch furniture pads, again advisable or not? Any advise would appreciated, Thankyou
10. Thankyou for the positive comments people. The Name is Ti Terror stems from my other love in life which is 4wding (long story). After another long hard listening session with my brother lastnight, I just keep getting impressed with the Aarons. I mean they definately arent up there with the PSB Syncronys or my brothers VAFi-66's but are close enough not to want to upgrade just yet. However I believe that the listening enviroment (setup) of the room has a lot to do with this conclusion more that anything else. Bear, Yes the name NAD stirs a lot of emotions in quite a few ppl I believe. Seems to be an excellent stepping stone to great HiFi and I think the NAD CDP is one of the highlights of my system, that and the Sony amp. Man that things got some punch! I am however of the understanding that the Aarons are supposed to be quite an efficient speaker so it would be nice to pair the Sony with the VAF's that my brother has to see whether its an absolute keeper or not (my brothers looking into a NAD M2 Master series). As to whether or not the cd racks or lamps move.... Well the lamps move a bit though the cd racks dont budge really. Or maybe Im just not turning them up enough right???......lol
11. I have with enthusiasim been reading and looking at the members collaboration of various AVR and Stereo Hifi equipment for the past 2 or 3 months. I especially love the look, let alone the sound of JCR33's Avantgarde Trio's. They are most certainly a beautiful loud speaker. I have only recently started to take HiFi seriously and instead of throwing huge amounts of money on "just the best" I thought I'd take a less is more approach and enjoy where the journey takes me. Here I have collected a GOOD START to what I believe is budget Hifi. I have for some reason always been a fan of NAD products and its good to see they now incorporate PSB loud speakers, which I had the pleasure of auditioning recently, thankyou TODDS HIFI. My system, though still young, consists of Aaron ATS-5 mains, Acoustic Research MC-1 Holographic series centre, Paradigm SE5 mk3 rears, a Aaron 120 dual 8" driver and Yamaha YST-SW200 dual 6" driver subs. The brains is a NAD T 742, Power amp is Sonys ever reliable TA-N55ES, the magic happens thanks to NAD's C521 cd player and to play the movies I am running with a Pioneer DV-344 dvd player. To visualize all this I am running a Samsung 52" plasma. I believe the system to date, excluding the plasma owes me around $1600 with a repair or two here and there. It is truely amazing what you can source with a bit of patience and research. i look forward to enjoying many a listening session and upgrade....
12. I have an 8 year old set of Aaron ATS-5's. Picked them up on ebay with matching centre and dual driver sub for $200 (plus some repair work). I have to admit Ive had the pleasure of being around good hifi for some time now ( father had b&w 802's plus plus plus) and the sound that these Aarons transmit are nothing short of extrodinary!! Coupled with quality NAD and sony amperage they with walk all over most of the Jamo stuff out there. HOWEVER! in saying this my brother just listened to the new Aaron ATS-5's and believes something has changed in the design. He believes they sound like crap, to the point he had to ask the salesman if it was a joke or something. Anything paradigm is highly recomended too. All depends on what your ears say really.
13. Hey found this for anyone who want a nice "old" two channel amp at a very resonable price. I'd bid on it however have just upgraded to a Sony TA-N55ES. http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_nkw=Perreaux&_sacat=0&_odkw=rotel&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
14. I can get my hands on one for $450. Is that a good price? Sorry new to the rotel thing guys, as Ive always been NAD inclined.
