  1. Nice. I am Singaporean too. First time I see an ad from Singapore after so many years on this forum. Back in the day, there was Echoloft.
  2. Excellent buy! Built to last a lifetime. I love mine. Is sublime when paired with tube pre amp.
  3. This looks like new. Incredible how you have maintained it considering its age. I have the SL600. GLWTS.
  4. My father had a cd2 and it was a superb player in its time then. Gwlts.
  5. I still have not discovered how to do this. This is an awesome streamer. Immersive and great timing.
  6. I have one of these and can't bear to part with them. Need good quality amp to bring out the bass and mids. The treble is smooth, extended and airy. Not harsh. Cannot be placed in large room unless you add a sub. Glwts
  7. This is a great streamer. What are you upgrading to?
  8. Hi all, I took the plunge and bought the Altair G2.1 without an audition on Monday. I read and viewed enough reviews to know it should be the right one. After two days of listening, I am really happy with the purchase. It is excellent in all areas. The build quality is rock solid, even feels more solid than my Ayre cdp. The soundstage (breadth and depth), timing, quiet dark background, resolution, immersive sound to live tracks, instrument separation, vocal body are all top notch. However, I would have preferred the bass to be stronger. It is definitely low though. Would going to Roon be good for SQ for Tidal MQA? Not sure if it is worth the money. Thanks for recommending Auralic.
  9. Super rare find. I love mine. Don't miss out. What are you upgrading to?
  10. Hi Guys, Hope everyone has having a wonderful Easter long weekend. I had a brief audition of the Auralic G1 but it was not an AB of Node 2i so could not really tell the difference. I am leaning towards this regardless after reading the reviews but am concerned it is a two year old model now. However, a dealer recommended Aeon 432 Evo. This does not have wireless which is a negative for me. Which way should I go? Thanks.
  11. Would be nice to test the various brands in my system. Not sure if these higher end streamers can retain their value and technology well over time like CD players so have been rather conservative in my purchase.
  12. Hi El & others, Thank you very much for your detailed explanation but frankly, apart from the Cat6 connection, I am lost here. I have considered upgrading the power cable for the node to Isotek but thought it might be better to upgrade the streamer itself. So should I buy an external DAC to connect to the streamer or upgrade to either Lumin or Auralic? Cheers.
  13. Hi El, I stream Tidal Hifi and use c2500. No drop outs. I can get an electrician to pull a Ethernet cable from the modem but wonder whether if it is worth it.
  14. Hi everyone, I have a McIntosh and BW802D3 set, and it is streaming through a humble node2i on wireless to extender but using the Mac preamp's DAC. Have been thinking whether I should upgrade the streamer. I have been using the node for 4 years now. What would you recommend and would it make a significant sound quality difference? eg Ayre QX5? I am also skeptical whether I should invest in a high end streamer when technology changes so quickly. Thanks.
  15. I have no intention to buy but would be nice to audition a TAD if possible. I live in Perth too.
  16. Hi Greg, Thank you for your advice. I should have tried that first. I sent it in for a check and there was no fault. Then, I bought a can of Dexoit and cleaned all the connectors and the static noise went away. After twenty years of being an audiophile, I am still learning. Cheers.
  17. Thanks for your replies. I disconnected the xlr to mono blocks and it was quiet. Re-connected the xlr cables and disconnected the source cdp and node, and the static noise is still there. So it must be the C2500. The tubes have never been changed. The right speaker is quiet though. Who would you recommend to have this checked and how much would it cost roughly?
  18. Hi All, My speakers are emitting rather audible static noise, one louder than the other. I tried isolating the source and it seems it is caused by the McIntosh C2500 preamp. Is this possible? I have a Xindak power conditioner connected to wall and from the conditioner to digital sources and the preamp. The power amps are connected directly to the wall. It could not be the wireless router or Node 2i as the noise is still there when I switched to cdp. What can I do? Thanks.
  19. Great Cx7 mp! Classic speakers. GLWTS
  20. For the ultra high end set ups. I use the avt2 biwire in my setup and am happy with its performance. Glwts.
  21. I have the same one running KT120. Really an excellent amp. Auto bias is so handy. The stock KT88 are great tubes too. Glwts.
  22. Thank you very much Vuman. Will find one that is. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
  23. Thanks again Vuman for your help. It is connected via ARC with HDMI cable. Didn't work. Don't really want to get an optical cable.
  24. Hi Vuman, Thanks for helping. It is Panasonic SA BT 230. The instruction manual seems to state it can. Cheers.
