  1. man, thats 1 nice sub :P 120ltrs not bad compared to the 250ltr sub i have! tho it's big for a reason. it's a horn design and you cant really have a small horn that produces frequencies down to 35hz unless you can change the laws of physics!

anyways, i am using the same sub amp as you, but i am using the one RCA input. i dont think you really need to use both the L and R inputs on the sub unless you are running a preamp, 3 or 4 way active crossover with multiple power amps and using the sub amp for the lower freqs. will you be painting the box with any kind of finish/look??

  2. Another movie to update on the list!!

    War of the Worlds (DTS)

All the movie is excelent, but the three most fav scenes that i picked up are

Scene 4: in the storm. When the lightning strikes watch your speakers move to the subsonic frequencies that the sound produces, just make sure you dont have the sound too loud, could cause harm to the speakers if not careful. very nice bass inthat scene and nice surrounding effects that tend to make you jump if not aware.

Scene 9: At the Window. When the lightning strikes occur again, but something else happens. an aeroplane turbine crashes into the side of the house, which in this has amazing bass and after a few second the whole aeroplane comes crashing down right next to the house, which if you have a decent sub, you will definatly lose everything off your shelve or end up crapping yourself due to massive bass!!

Scene 14: The Fighting Begins. army starts firing at the massive tripods and jets fly past scaring the absolute crap out of you if your not ready for it! this scene also has subsonics which can cause harm to your speakers if you have too loud :P

    ENJOY!!! :)

yep, that was the point. Ah well, sometimes I wonder why I even bought the sub. For music purposes, my Klipschs with their dual woofers are more than enough @ loud volumes. But then again, a lil extra kick is always good. For movies, definitely needed the sub. BTW, I found a very nice place for audio hifi equipt. Not sure if this site is known, came across it in the traders...www.secheraudio.com.au...has very nice deals of some very nice equipt. On a note, I decided to buy the OPPO dvd player. Has great reviews, though pckeys hasn't yet replied which I wonder if he is still visitng this board. heh, hopefully the specs play out.

your link didnt work at first cause of the ...has after it.

  4. hey open bar, yeah the jaycar 80 watt sub amp goes quite well with my pioneer TS-W305c 12" sub, infact it shakes half the house (only cause of the particular box design) it's a pretty decent sub amp for a bedroom, you dont really need anything too powerful unless you plan to move out.

Oh yeah guys, i have since upgraded from my pioneer A-109 integrated stereo, to a Panasonic SA-HE75 5.1 channel receiver which i picked up for $349 (http://www.panasonic.com.au/products/detai...?productID=1463)

when i connected this up to my Onkyo's, i noticed the SQ difference straight away. i thought that my pioneer A-109 sounded decent, but since i connected the panasonic, the Sq seems more clearer and detailed and and seem to flow the sound out effortlessly and with no problem. Along with buying the Panasonic, i also went to a PC shop and grabbed myself a Creative Audigy 2 NX USB soundcard for my pc, so i can run my HT receiver through the SPDIF output. (http://au.creative.com/products/product.as...49&product=9103)

and thats it so far, sounds amazing and im thinking of selling my Pioneer A-109, but ill think about it first.

thats sounds like your hallway is acting like some sort of waveguide. i use a sub in my bedroom and the bass sweet spot is where the door is no matter where i put the sub.

i just drawing a quick view of the shape of my room and where the area of the door is where the bass seems to be 'trapped'

  6. i went to the tip today, and they have a collection of old things laying around which they have 'recycled' i was looking at what speakers people have thrown away and i stumbled across a very nice pair of vintage Onkyo D-5 speakers. they are in perfect condition except the surrounds need replacing on the woofers and the L pad pots might need a bit of cleaning up. i picked these speakers up for $30. they sound mint and im just wondering would anyone know about these speakers or where i could find any info.

  7. well, i wasnt too sure what i could say, but i make my own music on my PC and i have put it up on the net. the music is quite unique, immature sounding and some parts funny. im just sharing with everyone here some of my music creations. you can sign up to listen to the music, but there is a free sign in name that i have posted with my link if you do plan to take a browse at my creations.

  8. whats your budget on the woofer you after? DD are pretty pricey for a decent 12" sub from them and for making a box that goes down in the low 20's would be pretty big. probably making the box tuned to around 30hz would be good for music and some movies and it also depends on how much room you got for the sub too if you do plan to make a big box. but if you do plan to spend a bit on subs and peerless maybe an option, get the Peerless XLS 12" sub and get the Passive radiators to go with them

heres a link of a mates peerless sub just to get an idea of price and size etc
