sligoriverblues Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 For some reason, I had to do this!!! It's one hell of an album and it would be a real shame if it went unnoticed here! Have you heard it and what do you think? If not, why not? 1
sligoriverblues Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 Saw the man live last night! Real giant of electric guitar... and there are only few in my opinion... Jimi Hendrix, Derek Bailey and I can't remember anyone else right now, but I'm sure there are a couple more... but this Oz wizard is a master! I'm not talking about his ability to spit five thousand notes in six bars, but about the unique language he has created! Somebody would say that Albert Ayler or Peter Brotzmann didn't know how to play the saxophone, somebody else would laugh to that... if that can serve as an analogy... But again, I wouldn't be affected in any way if Joe Satriani or Steve Vai have decided to stop playing tomorrow, so I guess I'm biased toward this man's art... A truly underrated guy!
Jake Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I am still waiting (impatiently!) for my copy which I ordered weeks ago. Despite fondling a copy in a shop yesterday I shall continue to wait....
Sentient Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 For lovers of this album and the artist, a tribute show,,,,,,, http://www.metrotheatre.com.au/events/2014/11/01/pop-crimes-the-songs-of-rowland-s-howard
Sentient Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Yeah. I'm 90% certain to be going, looking forward to it.
hugo_wilco Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Easily the most underrated guitarist on the planet. He truely had his own unique sound and style. Was positively brilliant with the Birthday Party and Teenage Snuff Film is one of the greatest Oz albums of all time. Such a shame he didn't get the recognition he deserved. Lesson for all the kids.....Drugs are bad..............mmmmmmmmmmOK Edited September 18, 2014 by hugo_wilco 1
