One of the best tube rolling HP amps around, sadly don’t have the time to use it much anymore.
I’ve only powered it up twice over the last year and sold my main headphones so selling this one on for someone else to enjoy.
It can run a huge range of tubes and its auto-bias, so no need to set each time! It still has bias pin holes to read the bias if needed.
It can run two voltages ranges - Low (240V) and High (270V), so e.g 6L6 tubes all the way upto KT150 etc.
Also has a Triode and Ultra-Linear (UL) switch and has speaker outputs for high efficiency speakers. It outputs a max of 6 watts in Class A.
I already have 2 other McChanson amps and this is the easiest to set/use and the best for headphone use (even lower ohm ones).
Since I don’t have a need for all my single tubes now, I’m doing a bulk package as per photos. Some great tubes too! All were brought as NOS or near too, all should work but didn’t have the time to test them all.
Only comes with a single 6BW4 Rectifier and a couple of sets of power tubes as I’m keep my other tubes for my bigger amps. Comes with 6922 to 6SN7, 12AU7/12AX7 to 6SN7, 6CG7 to 12AU7/12AX7 and Dual 7193 to 6SN7 Adaptors. I am missing the 5755 to 12AU7/12AX7 Adaptor though but can be brought online for $15. Comes with socket savers for the amp too.
Eric is happy to help with what tubes to use etc and is a big following on Head-Fi with a master Excel of tube compatibility that gets updated (I can PM you the latest one).
I can also help and can send you all the info/notes from Eric on the amp too.
Postage AU wide will be likely around $50
Any questions please ask.
Thanks.

### Sound Quality
- Described as superb, pleasant, accurate, and satisfying, particularly for classical and opera, with natural timbre (e.g., timpani roll-off in Beethoven's 7th).
- Comparable or superior to higher-end 300B tube amps in subjective listening tests, with clear, full music and tube-rolling flexibility for experimentation (e.g., GE 6AS7, RCA 6AS7, Svetlana 6H13C).
- Highly recommended by Audio Science Review for measurements, implying low distortion and strong performance.
- Featured positively in dedicated appreciation threads alongside other McChanson models, indicating enthusiast approval.
### Build Quality
- Excellent and impeccable, with hand-soldered point-to-point construction (no circuit boards), solid workmanship, and attention to detail.
- Users note high-quality transformers sourced at competitive prices and overall premium feel.
### Reliability
- No reports of failures; long-term ownership impressions highlight durability and consistent performance (e.g., regular listening without issues).
- Positive backup and advice from builder Eric Chan.
### Strengths
- Affordable pricing relative to performance, enabling cheap tube rolling (tubes $20–50).
- Versatile for tube experimentation while delivering high-end sound.
- Strong community presence in audiophile forums like Head-Fi and StereoNET.
### Weaknesses
- No significant criticisms identified in reviews; discussions focus on positives without mentions of common issues like noise, heat, or breakdowns.
### Overall Reputation
- Excellent among tube amp enthusiasts, with dedicated Head-Fi appreciation thread cataloging it as a top McChanson model and gear lists from experienced users (e.g., alongside Schiit, Audeze).
- Frequently listed in classifieds and owner threads as a sought-after, handcrafted item with reliable resale value.
Search results mention a custom McChanson 6Y6 headphone amp built in AUD (user shocked by price until realizing currency), but no specific amount or model match is given. Another post praises a "McChanson Ultimate" headphone amp at 3W (drives headphones and speakers), without pricing or condition details.
Key factors typically affecting value for boutique tube headphone amps like this include:
- Condition: New units command 20-50% premiums over used; excellent used can sell near new if low hours.
- Variants: Custom tubes (e.g., 6Y6) or power output raise prices.
- Rarity: Handbuilt by Eric McChanson, low production increases demand.
- Market: Head-Fi/StereoNET discussions suggest enthusiast pricing, often $1,000-$3,000 AUD for similar high-end models based on general knowledge of valve amps (not directly from results).
For current estimates, check active listings on Head-Fi, StereoNET, eBay AU, or contact the builder directly, as data here is from 2023-2024 threads and outdated by 2026.
