SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite Hi-Res Headset Announced

SteelSeries has annouced what it calls “the world’s first Hi-Res Wireless Certified headphones for gaming.”

Meet the Arctis Nova Elite, a new flagship model that aims to merge audiophile-grade fidelity with the flexibility of multi-platform gaming.

According to the Danish-American brand, the Arctis Nova Elite represents “a statement of boundless imagination,” blending Scandinavian design with cutting-edge wireless technology to deliver the kind of precision and performance previously reserved for wired studio systems.

Built from the ground up to advance wireless gaming audio, the Arctis Nova Elite targets performance levels once reserved for wired designs. SteelSeries claims it’s the first headset capable of 24-bit/96kHz wireless transmission over both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, achieved using the next-generation LC3+ codec. The company says this “breaks the barrier” that once limited gamers to compressed or downsampled sound when cutting the cord.

Custom 40mm carbon-fibre drivers power the new flagship, reproducing frequencies from 10Hz to 40kHz — figures more commonly associated with high-fidelity loudspeakers than gaming cans. The two-piece driver construction, reinforced by a precision-engineered brass ring, promises exceptional stiffness and control for what SteelSeries calls “pistonic movement,” delivering detail and dynamics with startling accuracy.

Pushing beyond conventional gaming functionality, the Arctis Nova Elite introduces OmniPlay. This new multi-source system enables gamers to connect a PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Bluetooth device, and even an auxiliary input simultaneously, allowing them to mix audio from up to four sources without compromise. In practice, this means you can chat on Discord, watch TikTok, and stay in a game lobby all at once. The headset also supports Triple USB-C inputs, allowing quick switching between systems.

The companion Arctis App includes more than 200 game-specific audio presets that can be changed on the fly, while built-in Active Noise Cancellation (claimed to be the best in gaming) and a 32kHz/16-bit Auto-Switching Microphone with AI Noise Rejection provide clarity even in noisy environments. SteelSeries’ Infinite Power System completes the package, offering uninterrupted listening through a dual hot-swappable battery setup.

Design-wise, the Nova Elite continues SteelSeries’ collaboration with Danish designer Jacob Wagner, known for his work with Bang & Olufsen. The aesthetic blends minimalist Scandinavian elegance with functional luxury — a metal chassis, tactile control wheel, and memory-foam earcups ensuring both comfort and durability.

SteelSeries says the Arctis Nova Elite is “not just a new product — it’s a redefinition of premium gaming audio.” With its combination of high-resolution sound, advanced connectivity, and craftsmanship, it’s positioned as much a hi-fi component as it is a gaming accessory.

The Arctis Nova Elite is available now through SteelSeries direct and select global retailers, priced at US $599.99 | £599.99 | €649.99 | A $1,349.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
