Sphinx Returns with Element Loudspeakers at High End Munich

Sphinx, a once-legendary name in high-end audio, has officially returned—this time reimagined for a new generation.

Making its world premiere at High End Munich 2025, the brand unveiled the new Element loudspeaker series, signalling its bold re-entry into the ultra-premium audio arena.

Formerly known for its amplifiers and electronics during the 1980s and ’90s, Sphinx operated under the Siltech engineering umbrella. Under the banner of International Audio Holding—alongside Siltech, Crystal Cable, and HMS Elektronik—the brand has been reborn with a renewed mission: to fuse advanced engineering with emotive musicality for today’s discerning listener.

Headlining the comeback is the Element 3, the first model in what promises to be a whole ecosystem of products. Drawing on technologies from Siltech’s Symphony and Crystal Cable’s Minissimo Forte, the Element 3 is said to deliver a natural and highly dynamic performance.

At its core is proprietary Zero Gravity™ Bass technology, which the company says eliminates cabinet-induced compression for faster transients, deeper bass extension, and reduced distortion. Housed in a sculpted enclosure with PAC™ (Passive-Active Crossover) filtering and premium internal wiring based on Siltech’s materials expertise, the Element 3 reflects a blend of acoustic precision and aesthetic elegance.

While Element 3 takes the spotlight in Munich, it’s only the first step. The company confirmed to StereoNET that larger models in the Element series are already in development. These models aim to scale the sonic performance while preserving the signature openness and finesse.

Sphinx is also being positioned as more than just a loudspeaker brand. International Audio Holding hints at future electronics and complementary components, with a long-term goal to build a holistic high-end ecosystem rooted in the engineering heritage of its sibling brands.

From now until Sunday, May 18th, attendees of High End Munich 2025 can experience the rebirth of Sphinx in Atrium 4.1, Room F130.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
