Building on the solid foundation of the outgoing WF-C700N, the new model introduces upgraded noise cancellation, improved call quality, extended battery life, and a splash of fresh style—all in an accessible package.

Noise cancelling has received a notable bump this time around. Sony’s Dual Noise Sensor technology uses twin microphones to capture and suppress external sound, helping to keep your focus on the music—whether you're commuting, working in a busy café, or just tuning out at home. For those who prefer to remain aware of their surroundings, an Ambient Sound mode lets in the outside world when needed. Users can fine-tune how much of that sound comes through using the Sony Headphones Connect app, which offers 20 levels of ambient adjustment plus a Voice Passthrough mode for chatting without removing the earbuds.

Using activity and location data, Sony's Adaptive Sound Control also returns to automatically switch between listening modes. It even learns your frequent spots—like home, the office, or the gym—and adjusts the sound profile accordingly.

The WF-C710N also puts a strong focus on voice call clarity. Sony says its Precise Voice Pickup Technology, trained on more than 500 million voice samples, uses AI to isolate your voice and reduce ambient noise. Microphones are strategically placed inside and outside the earbuds to ensure cleaner conversations, even in chaotic environments.

Battery life has been boosted, with up to 30 hours of playback, including the charging case. For those in a rush, a five-minute top-up delivers around an hour of extra listening—handy for last-minute dashes out the door.

Under the hood, a 5mm driver combined with Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) is designed to bring out the best in your music, balancing rich bass with clean vocals. Users can further personalise the sound using the EQ Custom feature in the companion app.

Sony hasn’t strayed far from its winning formula design-wise. The earbuds are compact, comfortable, and easy to wear for extended sessions. The updated charging case is now cylindrical, pocket-friendly, and available in four colours—black, White, Pink, and the hero colour—an all-new translucent Glass Blue, which, to this writers eye, has a real retro electronic aesthetic feel to it. They also come with an IPX4 water resistance rating, so they should be good to use come rain or shine.

Usability remains a strong suit, too. Touch controls allow for quick track skips, volume tweaks, and call handling, while features like Quick Access, Instant Pause/Play, and support for multi-point Bluetooth pairing add to the convenience. Sony has also made the WF-C710N a little greener, ditching plastic in its packaging as part of broader sustainability efforts.

Also announced were new colourways for Sony’s over-ear WH-CH720N and WH-CH520 headphones, which now come in soft pastel pinks—and a muted yellow in the case of the CH520. While minor updates, they aim to tap into an emerging Gen Z’s taste for more subdued tones.

The WF-C710N earbuds and the new colour options for Sony’s WH-series headphones will be available across all regions. The WF-C710N earbuds will be priced at US$120/£100/€120.
