Sendy Audio Bets on Class A Purism with Its New KYLIN DAC/Amp

Sendy Audio has officially launched the KYLIN, a desktop DAC/headphone amplifier first previewed at CanJam NYC 2025.

Now in full release, it arrives as Sendy’s bid to stand out in a crowded field with a more purist, Class A approach. Positioned as a premium all-in-one for headphone listeners, the new unit combines high-resolution digital decoding with Class A amplification, with Sendy Audio claiming a sound built around clarity, natural tonal balance and control rather than overt showmanship.

At the digital end, KYLIN uses an XMOS USB audio platform and an ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chip, supporting native DSD512 playback from compatible sources. Sendy says the combination is intended to deliver stable, low-jitter signal transmission and enough resolving power to uncover subtle textures and dynamic detail in recordings.

The analogue stage is where the company appears keenest to underline its ambitions. KYLIN uses a dedicated Class A output stage built around matched Hitachi transistors, backed by dual Burr-Brown OPA604 op-amps and a capacitor complement drawn from WIMA and Nichicon. On paper, at least, that points to a design aimed squarely at listeners who value smoothness, drive, and a more refined presentation over the leaner, more clinical sound that some desktop DAC/amp combinations can slip into.

Sendy is also pitching the KYLIN as an easy partner for a broad range of headphones. The unit is said to adjust its output according to headphone impedance and offers three front-panel outputs: 4-pin XLR balanced, 4.4mm balanced, and 6.35mm single-ended. A selectable gain function is included, along with an ALPS potentiometer for precise and reliable volume adjustment — which, on paper at least, should make it a natural fit for something like Sendy’s own Apollo planar headphones.

Beyond headphone listening, Sendy says KYLIN’s mix of analogue and digital inputs and outputs should allow it to slot neatly into a wider desktop or hi-fi setup. At the same time, a servo-regulated power supply is designed to keep unwanted noise in check.

The chassis itself is machined from aluminium, which should help with both thermal management and long-term durability, while the styling shown so far leans more classic than futuristic — a sensible move in a category where many buyers still want their desktop gear to look like hi-fi, not IT hardware.

Of course, plenty will depend on how Sendy has voiced the finished unit in practice. The desktop DAC/amp category is already crowded with technically accomplished rivals, and strong parts selection alone does not guarantee a memorable listen. Even so, KYLIN looks like a serious attempt to offer a more upmarket, musically minded alternative for headphone enthusiasts wanting high-resolution decoding and Class A grunt in a single box.

The Sendy Audio KYLIN is available now through selected retailers worldwide, priced at US$1,499 / £1,499.
