Ruark R810 MiE Radiogram - Classic Craftsmanship Made in England

Boasting “unparalleled craftsmanship” Ruark’s R810 MiE revives its Made in England editions.

The Ruark R810 MiE follows on from the R5 MiE, which was released in October 2021, the first model in the British brand’s Made in England project. The intention was to unite Ruark with highly skilled craftspeople to deliver an exceptional level of finish to key products.

Unfortunately, Covid and subsequent component shortages forced Ruark to pause the project. However, with its 40th Anniversary celebrations in mind, the company has relaunched this special collection with the unveiling of R810 MiE.

The Ruark R810 is already quite the statement piece; with a stunning finish by skilled artisans, it is taken to a new level.

The Ruark R810 MiE is presented in two exquisite finishes: Penta-Chord Walnut and Leaf-Line Oak.

Each piece is unique—like a fingerprint—and showcases the centuries-old art of marquetry reimagined for the modern era.

We’re told the patterns are designed to reflect contemporary life while honouring traditional techniques.

Marquetry, historically a symbol of status, is a skill that demands precision and patience. Here, selected veneers are meticulously cut and arranged before being bonded to the R810 cabinet.

Once cured, multiple layers of lacquer are applied, with hand-sanding between coats, creating a lustrous finish that only time and care can achieve.

The cabinet and grille components are crafted exclusively by Storm Furniture, an artisan maker and proud member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.

After production, each element is carefully transported to Ruark's Southend HQ for final hand assembly, testing, and packing.

The 660 x 1000 x 435mm (including polished chrome stand) [HxWxD] R810 MiE offers up to 32-bit/192kHz hi-res audio support, wireless streaming via AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect, aptX Bluetooth, and UPnP. Ruark's R810 MiE will also link to your wired sources, including your telly, thanks to HDMI eARC. It also offers a separate RCA line-in and phonostage inputs, as well as optical and USB-C ports. Of course, radio channels are accessed via FM, DAB/DAB+, alongside internet radio.

Alan O’Rourke, Managing Director of Ruark, told StereoNET:

We’ve long envisioned bringing some production back to the UK. While volume production isn’t viable, our MiE project focuses on unmatched quality through hands-on craftsmanship, free from time constraint.

Only 50 pieces of each finish will ever be produced, each bearing an engraved wooden plaque on the rear panel as proof of authenticity.

The Ruark R810 MiE will sell for £6,495.
