Orange’s O Turntable Signals More Studio & Stage Brands Chasing Hi-Fi

Orange’s new O Turntable is more than a nod to vinyl—it’s the latest sign that iconic amp and instrument makers are spinning their stage pedigree into home hi-fi.
Finished in high-gloss white and stamped with Orange’s unmistakable crest, the O Turntable puts the brand’s rock ‘n’ roll swagger on full display — only now it’s aimed squarely at the living room.

It’s more than a side project; this move sees Orange join a growing roster of manufacturers better known for studios and stages than sitting rooms — think Marshall with its Bluetooth speakers, headphones and soundbars, or Fender edging into hi-fi with a MoFi co-branded turntable. Even Yamaha, with its dual legacy of instruments and audio gear, proves these crossovers aren’t new, though they’re clearly gaining fresh momentum.
Orange’s press materials proudly lean into that storied past — from Cliff Cooper’s legendary Orange Studios, which once hosted the likes of Stevie Wonder and Fleetwood Mac, to the iconic “Voice of the World” crest now emblazoned on the O Turntable. But there’s another story spinning just beneath the platter.

Look closely, and it’s clear this turntable is closely related to Rega’s popular Planar series, most obviously the Planar 1 Plus. The spec sheet reads like a familiar tune: a 24V low-noise synchronous motor, phenolic resin platter, RB110-style tonearm with preset bias, plus an integrated MM phono stage and carbon cartridge. It all points to unmistakable Rega DNA — a clever OEM collaboration that lets Orange add its signature swagger to proven audiophile engineering.

Still, this writer would assert that the O Turntable isn’t simply about Orange cashing in on vinyl’s revival. It speaks to a broader industry pattern where heritage brands leverage their cultural cachet to branch into new spaces. The logic is hard to fault: fans already trust them for amps, guitars or pro gear — why not trust them with playback at home?
Some companies have always bridged this naturally. Yamaha has spent decades building both instruments and hi-fi amps. More recently, others, like Marshall and Fender, lean heavily on rock credentials to power lifestyle audio lines. Now, with Orange adding a turntable to its growing stable of consumer gear—which already includes headphones and the Pyramid speaker system—it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing more of these mash-ups. The brand equity is there, and the appetite clearly is, too.

It’s finished in high-gloss white with Orange’s distinctive badging across the plinth, tonearm and cartridge. Also in the box is a clear dust cover and a “Voice of the World” slipmat — tying it neatly back into the brand's rock ‘n’ roll DNA.
Whether these crossovers always deliver actual hi-fi value remains an open question. But given the O Turntable’s likely Rega underpinnings paired with Orange’s unmistakable flair, this might be one mash-up worth turning up.

Priced at £499 | €599 | US$699, the O Turntable ships in late July in the US and is already available at key UK retailers like Richer Sounds, Selfridges, and Harrods.
