Naim has announced that Apple AirPlay 2 technology is imminently going to land across their Mu-so range. With this update comes highly advanced multi-room audio capabilities. Additionally, there's voice control via Apple’s Siri virtual assistant.

Owners of the Naim Mu-so and Mu-so Qb can enable AirPlay 2 functionality by updating their devices firmware upon release. Once the update becomes available, the Naim app will prompt you to perform an over-the-air update. Users will need to have their compatible Apple devices running on IOS 11.4 or above, that's iPhone 5s and newer and the 5th Gen iPad and younger.

As well as handing your Naim Mu-so and Mu-so Qb multiroom chops there is the added benefit of a larger streaming buffer. That buffer bonus mitigates dropouts when streaming in areas with poor internet connectivity.

NAIM MU-SO with Apple AirPlay 2 Siri multiroom control

Siri voice control works just how you would expect. Play, pause, alter volume, the usual. However, Siri plus multiroom opens things up even more. When used in conjunction with a multi-room AirPlay 2 system, Siri can be asked to play different songs in different rooms, or groups of rooms, or the same track across the entire system. So, if you want to rock out to Tool but your other half wants Tricky, you can just request that Siri oblige you both – albeit from different speakers, of course.

The update will be available later today for the Mu-so Qb and Wednesday 14th November for the Mu-so.
