British firm Majority Audio has unveiled a duo that might satisfy vinylistas as an office system or, perhaps, be the first step for those moving away from streaming music through a single Bluetooth speaker - of which Majority also does a decent line in.

The Auto turntable and D50X speakers both boast Bluetooth, so they should work seamlessly together, making this an attractive plug-and-play system for less than it costs to buy a large latte from a famous Seattle coffee chain on the daily commute over eight weeks.

The D50X speakers make a colourful statement too, as they’re available in five finishes.
Majority D50X Speakers
The speakers claim 60W of power and promise “rich, room-filling audio,” while remaining compact enough to fit on a bookshelf or desktop. They feature carbon-fibre drivers said to be designed to reduce distortion and maintain clarity across the frequency range.

Bluetooth 5.3 lets you squirt tunes to them wirelessly; however, wired connections also include HDMI ARC (not eARC), optical, USB and AUX, giving you enough scope to hook up a TV, CD player, or even a streamer such as WiiM’s Mini.

Rounding things off are a headphone socket and a handy remote control for wirelessly adjusting the volume and sound settings.
Majority Auto Turntable
The aptly named Auto is an automatic record player that lets you spin vinyl at the push of a button. When the side is done, press the button to stop playback and the tonearm returns to its resting position.

The turntable’s Bluetooth transmitter means it can send audio to Bluetooth speakers such as the D50X. It also has a built-in phono pre-amplifier for hooking it up to a pair of active speakers or a hi-fi amplifier. You even get an RCA cable bundled in with it.

The turntable features an aluminium platter and anti-vibration feet to help with stability and reduce unwanted resonances.
The Auto also has a neat feature: it can record to a USB drive, so you can rip your LPs and take them with you as digital backups wherever you go.

The Majority D50X costs £69.95 per pair and comes in black, white, green, maroon, and pink options, while the Auto turntable is available in black for £129.95. Availability and pricing elsewhere are to be confirmed.
