Elipson Horus Speaker Range Offers Affordable 5.1 Audio

Elipson's Horus loudspeaker series offers music fans an appealing price/ performance package.
Elipson's new Horus speaker range starts at just £299 and consists of a bookshelf and floorstanding models, a centre channel and a subwoofer. The French brand says to expect "precise and musical sound reproduction in a modern design."

Starting with the Elipson Horus 6B bookshelf speakers, you get a compact and stylish pair that, according to the company, boasts "an astonishing level of performance for its size and price". The compact duo each features a 25mm silk dome neodymium tweeter accompanied by a 13cm driver made of cellulose pulp with a glass fibre coating.

Meanwhile, the Horus 11F is a 2.5-way floorstander loaded with a pair of 13cm mid/bass drivers alongside a 25mm tweeter. Furthermore, the 11F's front-firing bass ports should enable the towers to be positioned and integrated into the home relatively easily.

Flexing the multi-channel chops of the Elipson Horus range is the Horus 10C centre channel featuring a two-way design with the same drive units as its siblings and manufactured to integrate into a multi-channel music and/or movie playback system.

Finally, adding to the foundations is the Horus 8S compact active subwoofer. This follows the range later in April and has been explicitly designed to be integrated within the Horus range for a multi-channel set-up. The Horus 8S is equipped with a 20cm drive unit powered by a DSP-controlled Class D amplifier that Elipson claims is capable of 300W of peak power.

The Elipson Horus range is available now in black carbon, light wood beige or dark grey walnut. Pricing starts at £299/ €349 for the Horus 6B bookshelf speakers, while £750/ €849 gets you the Horus 11F floorstanding speakers. The Horus 10C centre channel costs £225/ €249, and the Horus 8S subwoofer £450/ €499 when it lands in April. A Horus 5.1 speaker package is also available with a £1,599 RRP.
